Did you have a good holiday? The Fourth of July is an ill-omened day for me, but everyone seems to have made it through healthy and hale, so I will call it a win!

I had planned on finishing my current sewing project - a very timely themed swimsuit - and starting the next. However, I found that sewing swimsuit fabric isn't as easy as sewing cotton, and I think I've ripped out every single seam that I've sewn in this project at least once. It's not finished, yet, but I'm getting close to the end! I just have some binding to figure out (after I finish ripping out the first attempt to sew it on) and some top-stitching to do around the legs. And a swim skirt to sew with it. Oh! I keep forgetting that swim skirt! I need to figure out the measurements I want to use with it! The plan is to finish the swimsuit part tonight! We'll see how that goes..

Our celebration for the day mainly consisted of eating pie and ice cream. I made the blueberry pie - and I suggest you do, too! Blueberries are excellent this year! I just make the basic pie out of the Betty Crocker cookbook, but leave the top crust off. Then, halfway through, I stir the pie, to break up the sugar crust forming on top, and I really love the results! Eric made the ice cream, and it was delicious, as usual. Eric may feel that the plain vanilla isn't as exciting as other flavors, but it's just SO GOOD! I'm always happy with his vanilla ice cream!

Also, it's been a while since I've posted a kitty picture here (if you want kitty pictures, Tinka has a tumblr at tinkatoysoldier). Moxie continues to be a shoulder kitty, but she's getting a bit big for my shoulders. Not one to give up, she was balancing on my shoulder while I was petting her, and she grabbed my hand and pulled it down for extra seating. She then rode my shoulder for a good half hour. My hand was falling asleep by the time she got down!
