Hm. I've been working on my Anevka costume for a while, and
look at the Girl Genius cover that Kaja Foglio posted today! Guess what I'm going to get signed in June :) (I should've realized who the Clockwork Princess was, but I'm slow :)
So, speaking of cons, MTAC was last weekend! Yay! It's my annual pilgrimage to visit my Nashvillains, and I had a lovely time, as always! I went down on Thursday instead of Friday, and I must say that it was a good choice! We walked right through the registration line Thursday evening, but on Friday it was ridiculously long! They really need to get their registration together!
On Friday, we came in and tried to find parking -- it was already full. We were going to park at an outdoor parking lot two blocks away, but we realized that valet parking was just a few dollars more, we wouldn't have to drag our suitcases for blocks, and we wouldn't have to run out and feed the parking meter every day. Sold!
Even so, we didn't show up until after the AMVs. WHY DO THEY SHOW THEM SO EARLY? And without any repeats, either! Boo! So, we hit the artist alleys and dealer room. They were so BIG this year! It was really nice to see how well they filled out the convention center! It really was a good move for them!
We ended up going to more panels than usual. Usually we just sit around and people watch. Some of the panels were good, so I'm glad we went. I really wish that they'd had the AMVs later, or the Symphonic Anime Orchestra concert earlier (Really, MTAC? 3:00 on Sunday?), but we all know that they hate non-locals. The dealer room didn't even open until 11 on Sunday, so I wasn't able to go in. That's probably for the best, though, because I had my eye on a $50 skirt and $175 coat, and I really don't need to spend my money on cosplay clothes...
All I ended up buying was some Tasty Peach Studios stuff (of course!) and some sakura green tea KitKat bars (delicious! Why don't we get the crazy KitKats??)
Costume wise, there were a lot of ponies, lots of Soul Eater, lots of Black Butler... I didn't take a lot of pictures, but here were the ones I took:
Here were some bronies... I really liked how low-key they were. Ok, Fluttershy wasn't very low-key ;) They were my favorite bronies of the con, though. I didn't recognize Scootaloo there, because of course, he's a blankflank. No cutie mark to distinguish him! Poor Scootaloo!
I like the business suit Tardis! Very different from the normal Tardises you see! And the Medusa! You see so many people who dress as Medusa because it's so easy. She really raised the bar with her snake and arrows!
I loved this Jack! Perfect body type for the costume, so tall and skinny!
An Adventure Time group! There were a lot of individuals from Adventure Time around (some of the worst LSPs...), but this was a great group! I love the Ice King!
And finally, a terrible picture of my favorite costume of the con! This was the best Potter Musical!Draco! She was totally in character, regaling us with tales of PigFarts in the elevator, and when she stepped out onto her floor, she dropped into a roll across the carpet! It really made my day!
So, all in all, it was another great MTAC! Of course, the best part was the company, as always!
