Multi-craftual...

Last night, my friends attempted to kill me by addicting me to *another* craft. We took an intro to needlepoint class at Needlepoint.com, in downtown Raleigh. It is seriously a bad scene, guys. Beautiful painted canvases, hundreds of tiny skeins of yarn and thread in all colors of the rainbow, gorgeous finished projects... I should've taken pictures of all the gorgeous things, but I was deep in ferret shock.

I didn't think I was going to be able to pick out a project (too much shiny!), but then I found a purse design with lilies and dragonflies on it, so I was sold :) Helen says that purse finishing is super expensive, so I will get to figure out how to do that, too :)

Everyone else was doing fancy background stitches by the end of the night, but I felt like that would be too overwhelming with my busy pattern, so I stuck to simple basketweave stitch. I took a closeup so you could see how much I got done while everyone else was learning fancy patterns. Lest you think that, well, at least I got some work done... Amy learned a fancy pattern *and* nearly finished the background on her canvas in the hour and a half we were in class. She is taking to this like a duck to water, though. She's probably hooked.

I like it, and this will be my Monday project for a while, but my first love is still knitting, I think. I also started the next cowl in the KAL last night. It is the second to last cowl, and I think I will be sad when this is done! It's certainly been a wild ride! I never have this many finished objects in a month! Cowls are amazingly quick!

Here's about an hour's worth of work on the cowl, about 30% of the entire pattern. Super-bulky yarns knit up so quick! (I hope the pattern shows up better once it's done.)
