To sew, or not to sew?

I am going to a Mardi Gras Masquerade on the 5th. (Everyone knows this, because I keep telling people about it. It sounds like it's going to be SO FUN.) There will be a costume contest! There are Mccalls and Simplicity pattern sales this weekend at Joanns, and all of their home decor fabric is on sale. Am I insane enough to try to make a dress by then? Here is what I'm looking at:

I've been looking longingly at this McCalls pattern. Gorgeous! But could I finish it in time? It seems to have a lot of bits, and I am not the best at sewing

This is another possibility. It's Simplicity, so I know it would go together pretty easily, but it really does look cheap and costumish (well, duh. It's a cheap costume.)

If I decide to be sane, I'll probably just wear my Ciel outfit. Not award winning, definitely, but it requires the least amount of work and money output?

I don't know. I know what I would like to make, and I know what Eric would prefer I go with (what is this "family time" you speak of?) And Jared just put up his costume list from 2010, which certainly inspires me to not let things slide. Hm. Well, it certainly couldn't hurt to go look at fabrics, right? Anyone free to help me pick things out on Friday evening? ;)

sewing, i am insane
