Cookie Party

Blar. Am home from work today :P I had a cold last week? the week before? But I'd felt much better by Tuesday, and by Saturday I was out hiking and baking and was slated for a complete recovery. But Eric passed on his ridiculous cold to me, and I was totally knocked out yesterday and am still exhausted today. What's with this? I don't get colds!

But! On Saturday, when I was sure this whole "sick" thing was behind me, I went to a cookie party. (Yes, I apologize in advance for anyone who gets sick this week. Seriously, no more socialising for me until I feel better for a whole week.) First of all, there were *so many* fabulous cookies there! Everyone brought something delicious, and I'm still scavenging through the bags we brought home! Eric made seven layer cookies, but instead of a graham cracker base, he used his chocolate chip cookies. They're delicious, but too too rich!

I made Lebkuchen Spice Spritz cookies, so I could try out the cookie gun I got for Christmas! I like the gun! It's easy to use, makes shapes very quickly and easily, and it's pretty easy to clean, too. The spice cookies were... eh. Next time I'll put more spices in them (but then, I like a spicy cookie), and color and flavor the glaze a little. It was a bit bland.

There was also a secret santa part of the day. I thought I'd done pretty good getting Mike B. proplady's kickass armor book, but Mike M. really outdid himself for my gift! Super best gift of the party, for sure! He got some tea cups and some old fahionedy cards, and a lovely box to put it in, and then he wrote an entire game based around a Victorian tea party! It's... well, it's pretty amazing, and you can read the whole manuscript here. Yes, it's a whole manuscript, and yes, it's worth reading through. I can't wait!
