On our third day in Japan (July 12th) we went to visit
Akihabara, "best-known as one of the largest shopping areas on Earth for electronic, computer, anime, and otaku goods". We wandered around a bit and looked at stores.

iBooks being sold. I wonder how well that plastic cover protected the computers from the rain.
We ate in Mos Burger, a local fast food place and it was all right. We were presented the English menu only which had been stripped of the stranger hamburgers, didn't get to eat any of them. But maybe it's good.
We found a big anime store called Animate and in front of it there were this machines from which you could get Bleach related phone accessories and of course we had to get some. Everyone wanted to get Ichimaru Gin. I did! :P The Animate store itself was very cool, it had maybe 6 floors full of stuff? 7? Something like that. I was a geek and bought the Final Fantasy IX and X game soundtracks. Otherwise I didn't buy much anything.

Emily bought some Bleach doujinshi. Isn't this cover great? We just had to take it (I had my hands in choosing it). :D
In the evening we went to sing karaoke. It was great fun! In Japan, there are places solely for karaoke and you can rent rooms for a group of friends, you don't have to sing in front of strangers. We had one room for 6 people, two microphones and two devices for reserving songs. Everyone took turns singing and the best songs were sang by everyone. One could also order food and drinks in the karaoke place and just generally hang out for hours and hours. The costs were something per 30 minutes, varied depending on the place.
Next coming up: Hakone.
