Wow, looks like everyone who has abandoned me *sob* is keeping up with lj. ... btw, kidding about the abandonment thing. People have lives and move on. I'm just gonna' miss you guys in Med.
I called in sick today. I didn't really need to - the headache was just congestion. The real reason is because I am sick to death of the people I work with. Love the job, hate the petty-bitchy-sniping personalities.
The oddest thing about it is how the other (women) in the office are directing it at the new boss. Seems like I should be the one pissed at her since she and I were competing for the same job. But she had less than a two-week "honeymoon" period after taking over. Literally. The bitchiness and gossip started almost immediately.
I was able to stay out of it because the office arrangement was such that I wasn't seated close to the worst complainers. Unfortunately, around the beginning of the year, we got new furniture and a new office layout that put me smack in the middle of the "Snake Pit." I even resorted to a binding spell against two of them the keep them from coming into my cubicle and talking to me. But the partitions aren't sound-proof and I still end up overhearing a lot of the crap.
On the otherhand, I am rediscovering my music collection. :)
Anyway, rather than spend a sinus-head-achey Monday listening to the whiners, I decided to stay home. The downside to this is, I don't have enough sick days to make it to retirement. ... Maybe if I add in my vacation? ... nope, still not enough.
*Sigh* I guess I'll get over it. At least it's construction season. I can find reviews to do that get me out of the office for a few days at a time. And, if it gets really bad, I could always ask to be moved to a different cube.
