Wow! My entire family, which is like over 30 people, crammed into my dad's house for Thanksgiving. It was so great seeing everyone again! And seeing all the new babies, or the way the little kids are less little now, all that stuff.
I was running late and Milos and Colin were already here when I went to get dressed to go. I pulled on a blouse, and couldn't button it! It just wouldn't close over my boobs. So then I pulled out a dress and put it on and HELLO! Where'd this gut come from? Am I getting fat? Oh... yeah! I'm pregnant! I'd been kind of freaked out because I'm 10 weeks pregnant and all my jeans and stuff were fitting normally. Well, I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. More to the point, I'm a low rise jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, and my pants were hitting under my developing bulge. Y HALO THER BEBE. So finally I pulled on a loose skirt and a big sweater and off we went.
We got to Dad's, and Eva was there already and she took one look at me and pulled me aside, all full of questions about if I was wearing a push up bra and what's going on with my boobs. She was Full Of Suspicions. I don't know if she suspected I was pregnant, or thought I'd gotten a boob job, or what exactly. But I got all flustered and told her what's going on, about Milos and Colin and all that. And she got really quiet and hugged me and then told me to go tell dad. So I grabbed M & C and we went and tracked down dad and Milos told him what he and Colin had planned and thought of, and how they thought of me to have their baby, and I agreed, and look at that! I'm pregnant. And dad got really quiet. And then he hugged me too and told them they were lucky to have such a good sister, and he told me if I got pregnant again before I was done with school he'd kill me. He had a bunch of questions about legal stuff and insurance and he wanted to make sure I wasn't going to drop out of school (something he's paranoid about) and all that, and we had answers for him.
And then we ate! Everyone brought food. Eva and Tee made a bunch of stuff from when we were kids, that mom used to make. There was some new dishes, too. The turkey was absolutely perfect, like something from an ad, and it tasted sooo good. There was also lasagna, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, brussels sprouts, stuffing baked in muffin cups, sausage and pears, cranberry sauce made with lime, buttermilk biscuits, crescent rolls, herbed butter, stuffed peppers, and moussaka. And the wine. Oh, the wine. I didn't have any. Afterwards there was coffee, pumpkin pie, apple pie, blueberry pie, mince meat pie, tiny perfect cherry tarts, a pineapple upside down cake, cheese cake, chocolate cupcakes, and sugar cookies shaped like little turkeys. And chocolate hazlenut gelato. And champagne. I had a little champagne.
I ate so much it hurt and my stomach was all sticking out and I really looked pregnant. Milos made an announcement over dinner, saying what's going on and that I was pregnant, and then Ky and Emma said SHE was pregnant too (their third kid) and she's about 4 weeks ahead of me and I totally didn't know she was preg so that's cool. We can be, like, pregnancy buddies, I guess. Maggie cried and said I was soooo beautiful and growing up soooo well and my baby was going to be the prettiest baby ever. There was something kind of sad about it, and I wonder if she and dad have been talking about having kids. Or not talking about having kids. I think something's going on, though.
It'd be really weird to have a younger brother or sister, especially since I'd have a kid older than that sibling.
Anyway, that was Thanksgiving.
Today's some kind of National Buy Nothing Day thingie. I'm not buying anything because I'm lay-zeee. We pulled names out of a hat for gift exchange and I got my nephew Dusan and my sister Tsura. I'll probably get Du books, because he's a huge reader. I'm not sure about Tsura yet. Either way, I'll most likely end up doing most of my shopping online. Hurrah!
