So I applied for my Indian visa in May, and got it back in August only to find out that my visa as printed was valid from May to November. My application specifically stated that I was traveling from December to January. After three weeks of trying to get ahold of someone at the consulate generals office, they finally called me back today. According to them, they do not have time to read the travel dates on their application and this whole deal is my fault because I applied for my visa so early. I contacted Nancy Boyda's office, unfortunatly they have no power over the conuslate of India.
According to the Vice consulate the only thing I can do is reapply-and pay them another $70. I seriously cried. This trip is getting so expensive and this $70 is just plain unreasonalble. I just don't understand why they would ask for dates of travel if they werent going to use them to make my visa valid for those date. And who waits until the last minute to apply for a travel visa...If I cant get into their country, my $1500 plane ticket is worthless.
I am also booking my flights within India through an Indian agency, who is also dicking me aroung.
I am starting to feel like India is going to be this gigantic money trap because they think I am a rich American. As excited as I am to go to India, right now, I just dont think it is worth it.
