Ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? That’s what I feel like right now. See, Mum comes up around 1 PM and I didn’t really want to get up even though I was wide awake, so I dozed a bit longer. 40 minutes later, I’m ready to face the day but Mum comes in saying I really should go to the Rocket and see if they have a job for me. The thing is I’ve done that before and never gotten anywhere, so I’m just a little (a litte? Ha!) frustrated about the topic. Hence me sitting in the basement on the laptop trying to avoid talking about it again. Not much has been going on beyond that, so here’s more “Smallville” talk. The fifth season was pretty good, but a few episodes were just badly written (even one of the commentaries agreed with that).
Spoilers abound so be warned. “Thirst” for obvious reasons is my least favorite episode of the season. While I thought “Reckoning” was great, the beginning is a little too perfect. Clark reveals his secret, and then immediately asks Lana to marry him, and she says “yes” in less than 24 hours? That’s realistic. I expected Jonathan’s death so it came as no surprise though the emotional carnage from it did get to me a bit. That’ll teach Clark to save Lana again, huh? :p James Marsters was amazing, and did a very good job of playing his part as the villain. Nice and ambiguous the whole time while manipulating everyone to high heaven.
Lex’s role in the end was very fitting, and though I do doubt Lana’s feeling for the guy (rebound anyone?), seeing him and Clark go at in a super powered fight was very amusing. Once again, Lex’s memory was wiped so he’s still in the dark regarding Clark’s secret. Par for the course, I suppose. The sixth season so far is okay, but I’m not that crazy about the added heroes. I don’t really have much of an idea of who exactly the Green Arrow is beyond the fact he’s a great shot with a bow and arrow. His name strikes me as funny every time I hear it. “Here comes that hunky Olivier Queen…” You get the feeling his last name is trying to out him? :p
So, yeah, that’s it for today. I’m off to eat lunch and get ready for the day. I'll probably unplug the computer once I’m done with it just in case the rainstorm outside decides it want to get some thunder in.
