"You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment."

“Six Feet Under” has disappointed me. From the start of S3, actually the time skip forward, the quality of the show has suffered and gone downhill. I don’t believe Nate would have married Lisa even with a baby on the way. David seemed to take a step backward in regards to his relationship with Keith. He’s definitely more effeminate. The rest of the character arcs were substandard. Giving Brenda her own storyline also pissed me off. She such an annoying character, I was glad when she away for a while. At this point, I’m only watching to finish the series. I miss the communication with ghosts. That was my favorite part of the series. In all honesty, I think in the end I’ll prefer to think Nate died during surgery at the end of the second season. Seasons 3-5? A fever dream. :p

I also watched through a short BBC series called “House of Cards.” A story set firmly in British politics with one truly evil person working his way up it. F.U. was a great character, and his little asides to the audience were quite amusing. As much as I admire people with dark machinations, of course I was going to like Francis. As he blackmailed, and murdered his way to the top, I cheered him on. I’m a bit disappointed in the ending, but in a way it fit the storyline. I would’ve just preferred he go out on his own power rather than being unknowingly struck down.

Based on the plot, I wouldn’t have expected to like it so much. I guess it’s good to watch things out of your comfort zone sometimes. I tried watching the American version of “House of Cards” with Kevin Spacey, but instead of subtly playing F.U., the first scene you see of the character is him killing a dog. That pretty much informs you of what you can expect from him onward. The on again, off again Southern accent also bothered me. Are you or are you not Southern? Make up your mind, Spacey. I suppose if the sets ever came through the bookshop, I’d watch through to see if it got better, but so far I much prefer the British version.

“The Thick of It” is a complete satire of British politics. You can’t take it seriously otherwise you’ll hate the series. I disliked the camera style at first then I got used to it. I can’t imagine the show without it now. The specials weren’t that great. The standalone episodes are much easier to watch, and I love the variety of insults Malcolm Tucker slings out at any viable target. I think I have…six episodes to go before I finish the series? Yeah, that’s about right. There’s also a movie which resolves any hanging storylines. Malcom was recently fired so I’m curious as to how he’s going to worm his way back into the PM’s good graces.

Peter Capaldi is excellent as the foul-mouthed character, and though it is weird to see the Doctor spew such negativity, it just shows how well-balanced Capaldi is as an actor. I’ve been rather impressed with him as the Doctor thus far. “DW” has definitely gone darker, and I appreciate it. Clara’s dealings with him are strained, but she’s trying her best. Meanwhile, the Doctor is mostly focused on getting results from whatever trouble he’s gotten into. Letting someone get killed? Pish, who cares? I loved the Dalek episode, that was wonderful, and something the show has never done before. We’ve seen inside the Dalek case before obviously yet were never told they feed on protein or that some of their internal biology was nonorganic.

I like getting new information. In any case, not much has been going on lately. My stomach took a dark turn, and I’m working on getting it back to normal. I still have to go back to the doctor and see what else could be messing with it. Also, the dentist. Sigh, too much to do this month. I did get a smartphone the other day. I had fun learning how to use it, and I know I still have a lot to learn regarding it, but I at least know how to do what I want when I want. I did not appreciate my phone breaking after 11 days of having it though. Luckily, it was covered under the insurance policy so I managed to get a replacement. It’s white instead of purple. I can live with that so long as it keeps working for me. :)
