New Year's meme 2020

Happy New Year! May 2021 be better and less "pandemicy"!

1. What did you do in 2020 that you'd never done before?
Had a name-giving ceremony for Vega in January. Celebrated Mother's Day and Vega's first birthday. This was also the first year ever that I didn't celebrate my birthday with my parents and brother. Worked from home. Went to Sigtuna for the first time.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any resolutions for 2020, and lack of sleep and the pandemic has completely drained me of energy, and I can't see that changing for a while, so I don't think I will make any for 2021 either. I do hope to start working out a little though, to get rid of the awful back pain that I've had for years but got worse during pregnancy and afterwards.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, my brother-in-law's wife.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no.

5. What countries did you visit?
None.

6. What would you like to have in 2021 that you lacked in 2020?
Sleep. Hugs from my friends.

7. What date from 2020 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 25, the day of Vega's name-giving ceremony. I'm so glad we got to meet family and friends to celebrate Vega before all the corona restrictions.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't know. Surviving this crappy year, I guess.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I often feel like a failure as a mother. I feel like I'm never good enough.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Only the usual back pain and some colds, but thankfully not covid-19.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Things for Vega. My new smartphone, a Samsung Galaxy S20. (I would have liked to keep my old one if it wasn't close to dying now.)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Friends and family who helped us with the naming ceremony.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own at times.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, food and things for Vega. My new phone.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Vega learning to walk and talk. :)

16. What song will always remind you of 2020?
Babblarna - Första sången. The life of a småbarnsförälder. ;P

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder? About the same.
b) Thinner or fatter? Fatter.
c) Richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Meeting friends and family. Sleeping.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying. Feeling stressed out. Scrolling Instagram.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
We stayed at home and celebrated it on our own, just the three of us. It felt sad not celebrating it with my parents and brother, but it was still cozy just being at home.

21. How will you be spending New Years?
Spending it at home as we speak, playing Machi Koro and eating chocolate.

22. Did you fall in love in 2020?
No.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Poldark. Vår tid är nu. Once upon a time.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
Jag heter inte Miriam by Majgull Axelsson.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Nothing really. I haven't listened to a lot music this year.

28. What did you want and get?
Ticket to Ride: Rails and Sails that I got from Danne for Christmas.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Personal History of David Copperfield.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 34 and I spent it in Stockholm this year as well, without my parents and brother but with two friends. Very thankful for that day. :)

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Pretty self-explanatory - no corona.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2020?
Boring. A bit better once I started working again, but the pandemic hasn't been very inspiring.

33. What kept you sane?
Time on my own. I love Vega but she is very... intense.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No one.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Environmental issues, but they have sadly been a bit neglected due to corona.

36. Who did you miss?
Friends and family. I'm happy for the few times I've met them this year though.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Dahlia, Vega's new cousin.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2020.
I guess I've learned to appreciate time spent with friends and family even more. I think this year has taught us all what's really important.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

(Sorry.)

Last year.

new year's eve, new year
