I just got home from my local solo. Since the point of the flight was to help prepare me for the cross-country, I decided to fly over to Bisbee Douglas International and do a few touch-and-go's. BDI is only about 6 miles from here and it's not towered, so it tends to be the "practice airport" for students. Until today, I was frightened of making solo landings there, as I had a pretty bad couple of experiences there earlier in my training. But I needed practice landing somewhere other than the college, so BDI was my destination. I made three landings there, on the big runway. Two of them were acceptable; one of them was picture-perfect. Then I came back to the college to do a few more touch-and-go's, but I wound up stopping after my first landing. My goal was to land at BDI safely and prove to myself that I could do it. I achieved my goal, so I didn't see much point in wearing myself out with college touch-and-go's; I'll have another chance at some landings this afternoon when we fly to Sierra Vista. That's good enough for me.
