some friendly writing advice

Since we all have days of forgetting this:

1) If you write something, and you feel it's right, then it's right. I don't care if it completely whacks your outline out of commission. If the thing that feels right and the outline doesn't -- then the outline is Wrong and has to be modified.

2) Writing is fun and should be taken very seriously {unless you're me}. However, what you mustn't take seriously is the story you're writing. Go mad! Explore! Play! You're God of the Universe you're creating, and you can do everything you want. If you don't want to explore anything, then you can't write. You HAVE to be intrigued by your story, or else it won't work.

3) You always know what's wrong with your story. You're only trying very hard to cover yourself with rivers of Denial. You KNOW that this scene shouldn't be here, and you KNOW this sentence doesn't work, which is exactly why you're looking to be reassured that it does work. This, folks, is lazy writing, and the thing you're iffy about should be fixed.

4) Not writing doesn't mean you're forgetting how to write, as long as you're reading. If you don't write AND don't read you might go a bit rusty, but I doubt it very much. Writing is the art of manipulating emotion, and you can never forget emotions. So if you're blocked and can't write, don't sweat over it. It'll eventually go away, as long as you have something to say or something to feel. {I have the feeling it's also valid for musical theory, but I don't know all that much about that subject.}

5) Write with feeling. If you don't feel what you write, it will come across flat. Don't ever try to detach yourself from your text, because it will show and you'll hate what you've written. Find your emotional trigger and use it as much as you can. Mine, for example, is being Spiteful. Yours can bring you to outright bawling. In that case, I suggest keeping some tissues by your writing spot.

~Off topic, I cannot believe that I managed to recognise a song of the Rasmus when it's titled 'plugtmp-24-11'. It was just something about the singer and some of the notes that they're fond of.
