As far as the sizes we used to be: I wasn't even remotely fat at 5'10" and 117 lbs. All my bones poked out, including my hips, and people thought I didn't eat enough. (They called me "gaunt".) That's what I meant about 'distribution'--my bones are long and large, so while I wore a size 5 or less in the trunk, my arms and legs would hang out if I didn't wear a much bigger size like 12 or 14. So, it was always swimming in my clothing or looking like I'd outgrown it all~! (Nordic/Alpine build) The same "bulk" on a smaller-boned figure would have appeared more hefty. I was never curvy until I got heavy.

My biggest complaint was and is that women's clothing are made to fit what they term an "average", and for most of us, that's still wrong. My waist isn't where the waists are placed in most clothing; the sleeves and legs are still too short. Armpits are close-cropped in women's clothing, as if we never ever have to really use our arms! Ridiculous.

I finally gave up and I wear mostly guy's clothing. I'm still swimming in the cloth, but the lengths are correct, they don't have tight armpits or artificially-designated waists, and I'm COMFORTABLE, which is my personal gauge for "good clothing".

That's how I feel about my weight, too. I'm still a bit heavier than I'd like to be, but that's based on how COMFORTABLE I feel, not on anyone's outward assessment or the mirror.

I'm still 5'10"; maybe 185 right now. 160 is likely ideal for me.

misread- sorry- I was 140. I'm now 170, which according to my doctor is a good healthy weight.
