I wonder whether it would make sense to write (or at least release) different genres in parallel/rotate individual chapter releases?
That way, even if people aren't into a particular genre, hopefully you hold their attention with another - otherwise attention may drift during the release of one writing project before the next appears.
It would have potential funding complications (I guess a friend filter per storylinewould be the way forward), since you don't want to end up giving away one publication for free...ooh, bit of an admin headache, but you could even take go one step further have two filters per story - one for those who've paid up for the month for that story, and an ancillary 'taster' one which anyone who's paid for a different story gets added to for a short period - hopefully they'd read, enjoy & sign up for the second one as well!
The website should have a much more direct pay structure, which won't force us to keep track of membership by hand on a month to month basis. The plan will be to try and strike a new story in mid-month, so that people who have already paid will be there for the first part of the new tale, and hopefully get sucked in.
Looking forward to the end of this one- I want to see how it works out. I am definitely excited about the website because I know you'll do a fabulous job of it.
I think the variety sounds pretty good. Space opera isn't at the top of my to-read list, but everything else is well within my normal sorts of reading (er, except that I don't usually read all that much erotica because it tends to be poorly executed on plot, porn, or both). And I even read space opera now and again, especially when it's from an author I already like.
Which is to say, if I can afford it, I'd still want to keep up with what you guys are doing.
I think it's likely that the people who like your erotica will stick with it regardless of the genre in which it exists.
That being said, I haven't subscribed because i loathe reading books etc. on the computer. I'm sorry! It all looks really nifty- but I know I wouldn't read it, because I mostly read in bed.
If I were to be off-put by anything, it'd be superheroes. They bore and/or annoy me.
