Witches' Mark Chapter 21: Dickweeds of the Apocalypse is up over at
fever_dreams!
Definitely on my list of all-time favorite chapter titles. Sargon is adamant that I point out its lolarity.
And so I leave you with a nice cliffhanger for Friday. Work on the writing portion of this proceeds apace, and we will be done not too long from now, though the posting will obviously take some time to accomplish.
And by the time we're done here, we will have a website and everything.
We still haven't decided what we'll be doing next. Sargon and I may peel off and work on different things, I don't know. I'm excited to find out! There are certainly a lot of possibilities.
One thing that we're concerned about is striking a balance between variety and consistency. All along I've been a big fan of not writing only one type of thing, of making Adventurotica something that embraces everything from sword and sorcery to space opera to superheroes to shapeshifters to swashbuckling to steampunk. Wow. I think I just ran over my 's' budget.
Anyway.
But the other end of that is the concern that people who come for the more magical realism type stuff won't stick around for the space opera, and the people who like steampunk won't have the same interest in superheroes.
With the amount of material we post each week -- 9,000 - 14,000 words, give or take, basically, NaNoWriMo from now until the rest of forever -- it's really important that we keep things interesting and fun for us and give ourselves some time off from each genre.
We aren't sure how well this thing we're trying to do will work yet. We're hopeful that when we transition to the website, we will do as well as we are doing here on LiveJournal, and are hoping that we can do better than that. So it's kind of scary, not knowing if this is going to work out, if we're doing the right thing.
But up or down we're doing what we always wanted to do, both of us, which is working for ourselves and telling stories. And that's worth a lot. It really is.
If you felt like being especially halpful, you could link a friend or two to us. Trying us out on LJ before we go to the website is not a bad idea at all, as you can get added for a donation of any amount. The website fee will be pretty cheap, but there will be a minimum (we are working out exactly what that will be).
Also! I want to say that even when we switch to the website, I don't want to cut people off in the middle of a novel, so while we are going to encourage people to go and join the site, we will be finishing Witches' Mark here on LJ. Sargon and I both agree that we have an obligation to do so. So don't worry about donating and then us disappearing or stopping posting or whatever. We're not complete barbarians.
