He showed me one of his pieces of work once - a layered shelllike structure with many different layers. 6 years on I am STILL trying to figure out how he did it...

It's possible to prepare casts from skulls; I've seen it done. I don't know enough about metal casting to know how the process would have to be changed.
I know there's a way to apply a metallic coating to skulls, like bronzing baby shoes. Electroplating basically. I would love to be able to do that in my garage.
