I have a friend, nonnycat, who is looking for a good doctor in the Olympia, Washington area. She's willing to travel for up to an hour (i.e., Seattle area is OK, too).

In her words:

I have a nurse practitioner, Patricia Payne, at the Evergreen Women's Clinic. I would recommend her to anyone. She listens. She asks questions and she is very good. She is not a full on doctor but if she needs to talk to a doctor, there are doctor's available in the Women's Clinic.

It shouldn't have to be that hard to find a doctor who isn't an ass about having an informed, intellectually curious and self actualized patient with immune issues. It just irritates me endlessly that this should even be an issue...

*grr*

I hope she finds someone awesome.

Alas, I'm not much help in the doctor dept. But I may have a favor to ask: I have a friend who had to leave her parrot with her mom when she left for Grad School, now mom's making noises about getting rid of it and my friend isn't in a situation where she can bring the bird out here. So, she'd like it to go to a good home.

Do you know anyone you'd trust with a parrot in the Peoria, IL area? I'll have more particulars like age, gender and specific species after she emails me. She would be willing to let it go free to a good home, but mom may want some money. Not sure.

I feel like an idiot for finally realizing that that's why I was so confused that she said she was new (in a fibromyalgia community where she also posted this request) - her icon looked so familiar!!!, said I, and now ... well, all things considered it's probably not all that surprising.
