Meh, not so much terribly negative, as "homeowning/decorating/getting squared away is beating our asses to shit, y'all."

Were I not a good ten hours away and up to my ears in crap, I'd offer help (am a scrubber par excellence on a really good day) or other manual labor-type help. Booze. Cat-wrangling/snorgling. Sleepy dust. Something.

People talk about just moving stuff in and then shifting it about and painting and so forth around it, but we can't function like that.

You're dead right about that. It's so easy just to leave it and do nothing once you've moved in. Then it just niggles at you constantly. Doing it this way is a massive pain in the arse but then it's DONE.
