It was really, really nice to see Heath again. Even as the Joker. And what a performance. Jesus Christ, that was creepy. It was not him. Heath was gone. At no point, none, did he remind me of any of his characters, of himself, anything ( Read more... )

Casanova was wonderful fun, and visually stunning. There's a scene early on where he looks more beautiful than I have ever seen him look before.

Brothers Grimm is one of those roles where he becomes a different character. I liked that movie a lot despite apparently being in the minority.

Four Feathers was very serious, but it was a really good movie.

The Order got almost universally panned, but I thought that the basic idea was fascinating, and Heath's performance was very cool. I love the ending of this movie. Really really neat. That's one I may not be able to see again, though, because it's one of the movies in which he cries -- and I mean, totally breaks down sobbing.

10 Things I Hate About You is typical teen romantic comedy cut from Taming of the Shrew; the storyline not involving him is blah, but is worth it for his performance and some memorable lines.

Brokeback Mountain gets all the press, and I think it's a good movie with an amazing performance, and so it's worth seeing for that reason. It's not a pleasant movie, though, and Heath's character is very deliberately not very accessible or very likeable. But he vanishes into the part.

A Knight's Tale is one of my favorite movies. I know the whole thing back and forth, and movie quotes have become shorthand for complex concepts in this house. I'm glad you liked it!
