Hey! EBay Questions!

Feb 26, 2007 22:24

I know you guys have, collectively, way more experience selling on eBay than I do, and I'm not finding straight answers to the following questions in eBay's so-simple-it's-retarded FAQ section.

Therefore, I pick your brains.

1) Do they allow pictures not hosted on eBay servers to be displayed in auctions? In other words, can I use HTML to tag in pictures hosted on my own site, or do I have to pay for their picture hosting services?

2) Do they allow pictures to be displayed on the sales page if the picture contains the URL (NOT a link, just the text) for an external commercial site?

3) They allow links to external pages so that you can offer more information about goods, but they allow it only as long as that page isn't selling anything non-eBay-related. Digging around, I have discovered that that page can link to pages that do sell goods off of eBay.

So, do they define "page" as a whole domain, or do they only count sub-pages? In other words, does that mean that I can link buyers to a more-info-and-pics page on morningstarhall.com, such as morningstarhall.com/auctions, with all related site links across the top and sides, or does it have to be totally separate from morningstarhall.com? What if I removed the links to the rest of the site?

Basically, I'm trying to get around the picture limits eBay imposes by using my own server space to host them, and either including them in the auction pages or, if that's not allowed, providing a link to a page with more pictures.

I can't really lay out my sales until I know what I'm dealing with, here. Any input is much appreciated.
