Color selections met with Rob approval. Swatches completed and washed, with no appreciable felting of any of the yarns in a "normal" wash. Since I had no idea what the fiber content of any of these yarns is, I'm glad they can all be handled in the same fashion. I'll get some fiberfill to stuff the fish for body/substance.
I'll start the actual fish tonight. Garter stitch for the body, so it looks like scales. I'll do two bodies, sew them together, stuff them, then add the fins in ribbing afterwards.
I think I'll experiment with modular knitting for the rocks.
Rob wants me to write down the actual pattern for posterity/submission to a fishing magazine. Really? Err, okay... Well, I *might* submit the fish itself to knitty, but if I do modular knitting, how the heck would I capture that? Any idea, knitters? As if someone might want to reproduce this creation...
