"What Can You Lose" A Lyrical story - G

Dec 31, 2010 11:04

Another "Lyrical" story. Maybe I should put out a mix with all the songs?

There is one more story left to post, so the new year will start off on a Guy Group note!

The bar was dim, and, while there were a good number of patrons, it didn't feel crowded. Wyatt had taken to coming here in the evenings when ever thing got to be too much between him and...

When ever he could.

A beer, the soft sound of the piano player in the corner, and in a few hours Wyatt would recover his sense of how life was, not how it could be.

Wyatt was half way through his beer when the piano player started to sing.

What can you lose?
Only the blues.
Why keep concealing everything you're feeling?
Say it to her, what can you lose?

Ha, easy for him to say, Wyatt thought. He wasn't stuck in an impossible situation.

Maybe it shows,
She's had clues, which she chose to ignore.

There had been that one night when Wyatt had been sure he had gone to far, let too much of himself show.

Maybe though she knows,
And just wants to go on as before.
As a friend, nothing more
So she closes the door.

She had - literally. They were standing just out side of her door when his stupid mouth started talking before his brain could think of the right thing to say, but she had just brushed it off with a quite good night as she closed the door.

Well, if she does
Those are the dues.

Wyatt snorted in to his glass as a woman's voice sing out. He had paid his dues, over and over he paid.

Once the words are spoken,
Something may be broken.
Still, you love her
What can you lose?

The two voices blended in to a harmony of heartache and possibility, that left Wyatt discomforted.

But what if she goes?
At least now, you have part of her.

On cue with the next lyric, Wyatt thought, what if she had to chose?

Leave it alone

The memory sprang into his mind of the night she had gotten to close to the truth. Leave it alone, princess, he had said.

Hold it all in.

She had gotten so mad at that. Fine! Just hold it all in, like some kind of dam!

Better a bone
Don't even begin.
With so much to win,

The sound of the woman's voice suddenly registered in his mind and Wyatt turned to look at the small stage - and DG.

There's too much to lose.
