Without Wally, drag racing would never have become the safe and organized motor sport it is today.
He lived a full and long life and did what he loved...there's not really much else that can be said. Except maybe this, which I'm told the ancient Greeks considered high honor to have said of them on their passing: he had passion.
I expect a lot of black ribbons and memorial stripes on cars this weekend at Richmond, VA.
