Ooooh, that is all really cool! I especially like your system with figuring out how many kids everyone will have. I generally just say that non-Family/main house sims get one kid each, while Family sims get two (or three, if they have Graduate Three Kids as a LTW and I like them enough) but then a lot of the time I like couples enough that I'll make exceptions for them. (Damien/Molly and Teagan/Lucan, for instance, and letting Blair and Anderson have that third baby.) I'm a terribly lenient simmer, really, and I have a bad feeling it's all going to come back to get me in a generation or so. *sigh*
I would be so bad at not letting all my sims have kids all the time if I didn't have this system, but yours is probably better because mine just majorly incentivises inbreeding. Roxanne, for instance, shouldn't have had any children, but I really liked her, so when I thought she might have major chemistry with Lyle I wanted to stick them together all the more. *Shakes head* Oh, the genetic deformities my sims ought to have by the end of this legacy... And I'd think it'd be harder for you because you have so many immortal sims - I don't have any truly immortal sims at the moment (not counting simselves, technically), so they'll all have to get infertile eventually! :P *Ponders shyly whether to ask for your simself*
Oh dude, my legacy is allllll about inbreeding. :P Just look at Arthur and Merlin. (Wait, actually, don't. That's one family connection you don't want to scrutinize too closely.) Or Roxy and Sabastien. Or Fitz and Serena, given that I'm pretty sure they'll wind up having a kid together. At least you can say Roxanne is adopted. :P
The immortality is definitely getting to be a problem. At this point I'm thinking about changing neighborhoods when I get to generation seven, and only bringing along sims I really want to continue to play. But we'll see.
And you are certainly welcome to use my simself! She's up on my downloads page, and if you have trouble getting her to show up Marina has an ancient copy of her on her EA page. If you do wind up using the latter, you'll just have to make sure to give her brown eyes because hers will show up as that glitchy grey for some reason.
If looking at Arthur and Merlin is going to ruin my shipping them, I am totally not looking. They are meant to be, I tell you! :P And I may be able to say that Roxanne's adopted, but Briney and Liv are first-cousins-once-removed - even if they don't realise that fact >.<
*Tries to remember which generation you're on at the minute...5?* Well, you do seem to have an awful lot of sims in your game, I could imagine that they'd build up a lot. I think the only way I'll be able to give up any of my sims is if my computer breaks though *crosses fingers that that won't happen*
*Shrugs* It's a free country, but I'd be intrigued which bits you keep and which you drop... *hmm*
Lol, I wondered if anybody would have caught on from some of the more unusual ones. Maybe if I'd gone with Gold instead you might have noticed when there was an Elm and an Oak in fairly quick succession... :P
If they're going to have kids, they /will/ have kids. Productive one-night-stands, alien encounters, less than ideal marriages/relationships, single parent (or couple) adoption... The child will happen however it has to. Whether the sim marries or not is down to their personality and situation. *Points out the bit where I said we round DOWN* - 1 becomes 0 for everybody but heirs and immediate spares.
I thought it might be Pokemon naming scheme. (The only Pokemon anything I can reliably recognize is Pikachu, but I have a master's degree in Finding Out Stuff.)
Thanks for the explanation! You've mentioned bits and pieces before, but this puts it all together. I don't think I could play that way, but I'm in awe of the fact that you can.
Er, my master's in Finding Stuff Out is officially an MLS... That's a Master of Library Science... (whispers) and i used google to figure out the pokemon thing -- it can be useful... *shifty*
O.M.G. How did I not get the Pokemon references?! I still play my games too Jess, nerds unite, and I'm 2 and a half years older than you. *nods* I totally get the naming scheme now, that's genius.
I struggle with giving sims glasses. Freud and Zoe both had them and since then....only Penny and Marie have. I need to sort my system to work more in-tune like yours does. Mind you, saying that, I only have one gen to go now!
I couldn't do the huge rotation you have with yours, 8 houses is enough for me! But if it's all sorted who's having what and what everyone's like, maybe it's a bit easier?
I love all the details about your legacy, nuff said. :D
To be honest, my glasses and overweight system isn't really realistic because it really ought to be at least partially genetic rather than just out of nowhere, but that would be complicated and things, so I stick with the system I've got :P
Yeah, knowing how many kids everybody's having is quite helpful because then I can cram households together if there'll be space and try to get a good ratio of adults to children...
*never played Pokemon* I was more of a Yugioh fan... until it started getting a little nuts with the whole soul cards, etc.
Your system is... intricate. I just limit the number of kids to 2 for spares (unless there are natural twins... or in Till's case, got on that damn dance sphere). Of course, say a sim didn't want to get married, have kids, etc. I didn't force it unless I really wanted their line to continue. That's my little weakness there, I don't want any line to die out, so regardless how extended they become, a spare from any generation will always have at least 1 descendant in the current generation.
I was never a fan of Yugioh at the time - I flicked past it on TV a few times and thought it was a lame version of pokemon with the cards and everything, but have you ever heard of Yugioh the Abridged Series (YGOTAS)? There's a guy who creates it on youtube and it's really funny. And good for procrastination ;)
Yeah, I never want a line to die out either, so 0 children people will either wind up marrying back in (yay inbreeding! >.< ) or dying in tragic ways, generally. There have been a few who live with siblings and help raise /their/ children, but I assume that not having kids is a sad thing, whether the sim actually wants them or not *shifty*

My problem is that I'm indecisive and easily swayed. I have to give myself firm rules or else I'd just go back on everything *rolls eyes*
