So my Myke is back from the land of the Germans where he got one silver and a bronze while representing TEAM CANADA, I couldn't be happier for him!!

Canada - The Canadian division of the World Organization of Martial Arts Athletes (WOMAA) announced today that WOMAA Team Canada returned late Monday night from a very successful trip to Rosenheim, Germany where they competed in the WOMAA World Martial Games VI, July 15, 16 & 17, 2005. Team Canada, made up of Martial Arts athletes from B.C. and Alberta secured 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Medal Breakdown is as follows:

>Angela Silva, Edmonton, AB - 1st Place Gold Medal, WOMAA World Champion - Female ages 18 to 34 Black Belt Wooden Weapons Forms, and 1st Place Gold Medal, WOMAA World Champion - Female ages 18 to 34 Black Belt Kenpo Empty Hand Forms.

>Ken Marchtaler, Victoria, BC - 1st Place Gold Medal, WOMAA World Champion - Male ages 45 & Over Black Belt Traditional Empty Hand Forms, and 1st Place Gold Medal, WOMAA World Champion - Male ages 45 & Over Black Belt Bladed Weapons Forms.

>Roxanna Feraru, Victoria, BC - 1st Place Gold Medal, WOMAA World Champion - Intermediate 11 & Under Weapons Forms, and 3rd Place Bronze Medal - Intermediate ages 10 & 11, Traditional Empty Hand Forms.

>Also competing for Canada was Alireza Fadaie-Khoi of Coquitlum, BC, who made a strong showing in the Male Black Belt Continuous Sparring and Point Sparring events. The 6th Gold Medal for Team Canada was given to Angela Silva by British Actress/Stuntwoman, Zara Phythian (Crops, Quest for Honor, Black Salt) who won the Female Black Weapons Forms' and Female Black Belt Empty Hands Forms' Grand Championships. Silva, who would have competed in both these events, suffered a tear to her Anterior Cruciate Ligament in a Point Sparring match Sunday. Phythian, who felt that Silva would have made a strong showing in both Grand Championships events, was compelled to share in her victories. Angela also received one of Zara's Grand Championship rings.
