Using a rubber transition (as in the picture) is what I would have suggested. If the size is markedly different (eg, 1.5" to 2") you can specifically buy a 1.5-to-2" transition.

Also, I'm assuming the P-trap is already in place coming out of the wall, yes...?

No, but there's one built in to the pipe supplied by Ikea.

Huh...that strikes me as odd - usually the P-trap is part of the house, not part of the sink.

Ah well, as long as you have a working system now...
