Hell of a way to start the season

Spring is here, at least according to the calender. I'm dealing with a dark winter soul.

I killed my car.

There was a funny burning smell on Sunday night while we were driving home, so I checked the engine Monday morning, and I couldn't see anything wrong. I checked the belts, the wiring, the coolant -- but I forgot to check the oil.

Two days later the car made a wretched sound when I tried to start it, so I got it towed to my mechanic. They looked it over and informed me that there was no oil in the car and the engine was dead. If I'd remembered to check the oil this probably wouldn't have happened. A rebuilt engine would cost around $3,000.00, and the car is worth $2,000.00 at most, so there is no sense in sinking more money into it. (Besides, we don't have the funds or available credit.)

So we are down to being a one car household, with the one car being the one we thought we would be replacing first.

And I'm starting back to work come Monday. Thankfully I can take the bus, but it takes a lot longer than jumping in the car.

If this isn't a wake-up call to deal with the shit in my life that I've been avoiding, I don't know what would be. Back to therapy, and staying away from numbing behaviors.
