I decided to post the main thread here, since I'm not sure if it's allowed in shirotaxaiba ^_^. I'll just link this to a post in the community ( Read more... )

The moment Ueshima-sensei gently started to talk about their graduation, Aiba willed his insides to change to steel. Their director had merely mentioned the word ‘graduation’, and Doori, who was sitting beside him, was already muttering something about everyone happening too soon.

By the time Ueshima-sensei’s speech ended, everyone was in either in stupor or in shock. Minami was blankly staring at the light blue wall across them. Doori was tracing invisible marks on the floor, his lips curled to a pout Aiba knew to show confusion. Shinpei was shaking his head, unbelieving. Taka-san was rubbing his forehead, as if not knowing how to react. Takki was already leaning towards Seto, who held him affectionately. Masei was already blinking, furiously stopping his emotions to stream from his eyes. Tomo, who was not to graduate, did not know if he should comfort them or if he should be said with them.

Swallowing, Aiba pressed his trembling lips tightly together. He knew this time would eventually come; he had witnessed it happen before to his former castmates. But even though he was aware that they should let go of their roles after sometime, it pained him to know that soon, he would be stripped of his Fuji Syusuke uniform and someone else would take over. He had imbibed Fuji’s character to his own for so long, he was too used. Too familiar. Somehow, he regretted not graduating with the second cast. Parting with his role after a long time would be extremely difficult.

Aiba took another look at his cast mates and realized that he did not have any time to sulk over his own role. He was this cast’s leader and he should hold them up until the last performance. Taking a deep breath, he stood up and forced a grin. “Hey, it’s going to be okay,” he first told Doori. “Let’s get some ice cream?” Slowly, he cheered up the cast and invited them to eat out and forget the sad news, even though it was tearing him up inside, too.

“Aiba-chan, you didn’t say you were comi-- what’s wrong?!”

Aiba let his weight rest on Shirota’s body as he flung himself forward, not caring that Shirota’s little sister was just beyond the door, watching the scene. He whispered about his graduation, and he felt Shirota embrace him tightly.

Ending something precious, especially when facing his co-actors, was so hard that it felt like dying. It was as if a part of him can never return.

Here, in Shirota’s arms, he can stop being a leader. He can let the hollow sadness settle within him. He need not pretend to be strong and steadfast. He can let his real emotions flow and know that Shirota understood.

Here, he was reminded of how he should continue living and carrying on.
