So...
Matt (Gerald) and Dani (his lovely wife) came up to visit some relatives and friends up in the Canton area and to come down to Columbus to visit me and other friends. Many of you know this. I met them a little before 1pm this after, Saturday. Due to a little communication snafu, we were waiting for Mags and Willis to join us, but they weren't coming until later. It turned out okay. We went to the comic shop next to the movie theater, up in the Polaris area. First time I've been into a comic shop in years. Pretty much hasn't changed.
Anyway, after a while, we got hungry, so we took off and went...across the street! To the Red Robin's (Yum!). Got seated pretty much right away and had a fairly good waitress. One mess up on Matt's burger, but since she only delivers it, I wouldn't give her too much grief about it. Matt has a very...interesting...ordering style. I have to say that Matt is pretty much like me. We think alike and have very similar and complimentary styles, as far as humor goes. It was a blast, really! Anyway...
Dani and her lovely husband, Matt. :P
Oh yeah...
It's MAH BURGER!
Hehehehhehehe...it was good too. Parmesean garlic fries and big 'ol chocolate shake. Yum.
Well, after we ate, we contacted Mags and she said to meet at the Arena District, near downtown Columbus. We headed down there, apparently a little too quickly. Mags showed up with Willis and Steve-O in tow. Walked around for a bit and tried to get into O'Shaugnessey's pub. 40 minute wait. Headed over to BD's Mongolian grille. 40 minute wait. BLEH! So, we thought about it for a minute. What about something over in Hilliard (NW Columbus)? I said, Cheeseburger in Paradise. Perfect! We went!
We ate and had fun and gabbed and ended the night with a good Your Mom joke. Matt and Dani had to head back up to Canton for an early flight home tomorrow, so we headed back to Polaris and they dropped me off at my truck. I said my goodbyes...and I really didn't want to. I miss having friends, horribly and I enjoyed every minute I had with them today.
Mags has given me information about several groups and I looked up the meetup.com stuff...but...those are NEW people. It's not the same and wouldn't be for a while. I don't mean to sound whiney, but it's not the same as what happened today. I met a brother and a sister I didn't know I had. It might be the same in time, but I guess I want it now. A little selfishness on my part, yeah. :)
Anyway, I had a blast and I can only hope that I was a good host and that they had a great time too. :)
