BOOK LINES, AND EVERYTHING ELSE..

Apr 10, 2006 23:03

Been wanting to update my LJ a few times back, but I've been just too tired (and/or lazy) to do so lately 'cos it's been quite busy at work that when I come home, I just go to sleep agad.  Seems like a lot of people are taking advantage of the start of summer that they've been scheduling themselves for the elective operation that they need.  Andami nagpapa-opera lately.. hence, madami kaming patients.  Lalo na this week.. definitely a hell week.  Humahabol sila before mag-holiday for holy week. Oh well.  They said it's expected to be a 'peak season' when it's vacation time daw kasi everyone's free from work kaya may time to recover from the operation that they'll be undergoing. Haaaay.

Anyway, I've been reading this book, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT TIME, and I must say that I find it really interesting.  I'm not yet done with it though, but I'm pretty close to finishing it already.

So, I've been fixing my stuff the other day and I've noticed all the other books that I have, and started flipping through the pages of most of them.  I have this weird habit of highlighting the part that i like most about the book, so that when i flip through the pages again, i'm gonna remember those lines.. hehe. :)

Here's some of those lines.  Feel free to share some of your favorite book lines as well. :)

LOVE STORY - Erich Segal
"Love means not ever having to say you're sorry."

"Hey, Oliver, did I tell you that I love you?"
     "No, Jen."
     "Why didn't you ask me?"
     "I was afraid to, frankly."
     "Ask me now."
     "Do you love me, Jenny?"
She looked at me and wasn't being evasive when she answered:
     "What do you think?"
     "Yeah.  I guess.  Maybe."
     I kissed her neck.
     "Oliver?"
     "Yes?"
     "I don't just love you..."
     Oh Christ, what was this?
"I love you very much, Oliver."

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE - Mitch Albom
"Have I told you about the tension of the opposites?" he says.
     The tension of the opposites?
"Life is a series of pulls back and forth.  You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else.  Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't.  You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.  A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band.  And most of us live somewhere in the middle."
Sounds like a wresting match.  I say.
"A wrestling match."  He laughs.  "Yes, you could describe life that way."
So which side wins, I ask?
He smiles at me, the crinkled eyes, the crooked teeth.
     "Love wins.  Love always wins."

VINCE'S LIFE - Vince O. Teves
"Across the table, Andrea looked into my eyes and I fell in love with her for the millionth time in my life."

"For the nth time that day, I was struck by how beautiful she was, and I realized that there wasn't much I wouldn't do for her."

"Once we were walking, we slipped into an easy conversation, as we always do.  We laughed, and in the moonlight, I only fell in love with her more."

"Just when I thought it was no longer possible, I fell in love with her more."

"Because what we have is something special.  It's almost like magic.  Every time our eyes meet or when we touch, there's magic in between.  And it doesn't go away, even when we're apart."

"I had never seen the stars shine brighter than at that moment, and though Andrea was beside me, I have never felt more alone.  I'll wait until there's nothing left to wait for."

"Seeing Andrea that night, I tried to memorize every detail about her: the brown of her eyes, the porcelain of her skin, the music of her voice.  Everything was significant: from the slightly nervous licking of her lips to the magical way she tucked her hair behind her ear.  Maybe one day, I would forget.  And that would be the day that I'll know I had truly lost her."

"It hurts like hell, man.  But no, there's nothing to regret.  I loved her as much as i could and I was loved just as much in return.  And that's more than most people could say at the end."

BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT - Paolo Coelho
"In real life, love has to be possible.  Even if it is not returned right away, love can only survive when the hope exists that you will be able to win over the person you desire."

"Life takes us by surprise and orders us to move toward the unknown -- even when we don't want to and even when we think we don't need to."

"Love never comes just a little at a time."

"If pain must come, may it come quickly.  Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible.  If he has to make a choice, may he make it now.  Then I'll either wait for him or forget him.  Waiting is painful.  Forgetting is painful.  But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering."

"A fall from the third floor hurts as much as a fall from the hundredth.  If I have to fall, may it be from a high place."

"Follow your dreams, transform your life, take the path that leads to God.  Perform your miracles.  Cure.  Make prophecies.  Listen to your guardian angel.  Transform yourself.  Be a warrior, and be happy as you wage the good fight.  Take risks."

"All love stories have much in common.  I went through the same thing at one point in my life.  But that's not what I remember.  What i remember is that love returned in the form of another man, new hopes, and new dreams."

"Love perseveres.  It's men who change."

"I am going to sit here with you by the river.  If you go home to sleep, I will sleep in front of your home.  And if you go away, I will follow you -- until you tell me to go away.  Then I'll leave.  But I have to love you for the rest of my life."

There you go.  And that's just some of it.  I haven't flipped through the other books yet.  But those that I gave shared with you are really my favorites, especially the ones from Paolo Coelho and Vince O. Teves (cos he just exudes the "hopeless romantic type" in the way he writes).  I'm looking forward to the part 2 of Vince's Life, and I'm eyeing a new book by Paolo Coelho, "The Devil and Miss Prym".

That's it for now.  Medyo mahaba na masyado yung entry ko, hehe! Tc everyone! :)
