All you sniffeling indie kids, hold steady!
The band moved fast...
...so I got motion-blur happy.
Wow, Craig Finn is a raging nerd. And a spaz. Watch him flip out sequentially:
Note the shirt that World Inferno Franz is wearing...that would be
iamalibrarian2's boyfriend's band,
Mischief Brew. Too cool!
So yeah, the crowd skewed youngish when So'Jersey hardcore trailblazers Lifetime played their 7" release show at the First Unitarian.
But the band was tight and I had a great vantage point for shooting photos, so what do I care?
Ari Katz has many of adoring fans clamored around front of the stage, most of which know every word to every song. This is why I love punk...that devotion is so rare elsewhere.
Everyone was extremely well-behaved.
Tripped out photo with no flash, lots of color and a generally drug-free band exploding into an amorphous psychedelic blob. The funny thing is I've got an astonishingly similar shot of Paint It Black - the current band of Lifetime bassist Dan Yemin - from the same venue about three years ago:
check it. Strange.
Love the halo around Ari's head here...
...and the dust floating in the church air and the grip, as a fan sings along in crowd-surfing solidarity. Though that grip also comes off as a bit antagonistic / defensive. Funny how body language has different reads out of context.
The prototypical awesome hardcore band live shot with vocalist screaming into mic and crowd fervently joining in chorus, fists in air.
A view from the back of the room.
