As for Final Fantasy Tactics: You're right in that it's hard to tell who to love, because most of the game is fights and stuff. I do love Ranma (I tend to have a soft spot for main characters?). While Delita tried to manipulate stuff, I think that Ranma stayed pure, and true to himself. PLUS, history doesn't remember him as the hero! How tragic! Alma is cool because she's Ramza's only sibling who didn't end up sucking. SO, Alma and Ramza because they seemed the least corrupted.

I did love using Agrias in battle, though. She just never said or did much outside of battle.

Man, it's been a long time since I played this game, and since I only played through it once, I don't remember it nearly as well as Final Fantasy VII.
