2016.05.31 Touken Ranbu Musical
So I went to this as a last minute buy! I watched the Trial the Wednesday before and immediately ran out and bought a Toujitsu ticket and my boy it was worth it! Cos I got lucky and got the bang in the center seat too!
OMG Sato Ryuji! Seriously...
There were a few changes to the Trial such as new songs which I liked especially the oe with all the hand gestures!
And Ima had a viel when he was trying to sneak into Yoshitsune's place in order to get past the guards which was a nice touch.
I also noticed they had significantly shortened the opening scene between the three lords and the extended scenes with Ishi and Kashuu in the forest when they're alone; it helped us understand Ishi's personality and character more a little.
Also during the first time when all the members are together and they're al talking amognst themselves and then there's Kogi to the left stage just chasing his tail xD everyone was laughing!
Ooooohh! And you know the scene where Ima and Iwa are talking about how they were picking apples and couldn't figure how to pick them up off the ground? Well while Ima was trying to go from the shoulder stand to Iwa's legs, there was a little bit (a split second) of a delay as Iwa had to try and get and pull his costume away so Ima could put his feet on his pants and Iwa automatically went 'hold on a moment' and it defo gave everyone the giggles xD but it's amazing how in less than a second he KNEW he'd have to waste sometime sorting his costume out and automatically just went 'hang on' and fit it into the play xD
It was great to see it in person even though I'd only gotten to watch it and get obsessed with it like 6 days before I saw it live!
I got REALLY into the story this time. I'm kinda thankful I had done some historical research before the play cos once it started to get to the last half hour or so I was completely absorbed cos I knew what was going on and I was like 'please never end' I was SO fixated on it.
Only one wardrobe malfunction wich was Yoshitsune's mini sword and belt came off and slid off stage but he didn't need it for the remainder of the show so that's fine.
OMG one of the new songs was Kogitsune X Ishigiromaru Duet song and it went so well! Especially with Mika dancing in the background! <3
Before seeing it, I knew they'd added a song when Ima tries to stop them from getting to Yoshitsune, and I have to admit I was worried before watching it BUT I shouldn't have doubted Ima's song cos it fit in beautifully and I cried from that point onwards and pretty much til part one ended xD It was a dark song too and loved how they sang against Ima.
And everyone was fangirling!!
OH! There was a chinese girl next to me and she wore the chinese subtitle glasses and you could tell she didn't understand a WORD of Japanese cos when we were getting ready for the live, the poor girls next to her were like 'put your light on, do it like this, everyone else will' and she just looked lost.
During the live; I lost it when Benkei and co. started playing the drums and did not stop crying til it ended. Seriously, even listening to it on my phone I get emotional. I just think it's amazing that these actors, they ain't professional drum player but FOR THIS PLAY they went to the next level and decided to do it? That's fucking amazing imo. And this is why I love and respect actors; the go beyond what's expected of them. << the decent and passionate ones anyway.
Ryuuji went past me during the live but wasn't looking my way but I was close enough to see the mass of sweat on him and his wig so I ain't complaining xD
OMG!!! During the live also; Ryuji's ponytail got stuck in his top during Otokomichi and he went over to Mario who sorted it for him!!!!!
During the first live song, Mario held onto Iwatooshi and Ryuji. He had his hand over Ryuji's chest and Ryuji held onto Mario's hand - I was dead. I still am now thinking about it!
Just Sato Ryuji / Kashuu seriously *dead*
Can we also talk about how Mario has the perfect back?!
Once again we all yelled and fangirled for Benkei on the drums! <3 it's great how even an old man can still get credit here it's due but let's be honest; Benkei is fucking bad ass! Seriously, read up on him. Bad. Ass.
Their voices and singing has definitely improved since the Trial too which is great and there were back dancers this time and it was a lot more showy ^_^ such a great improvement. I know Ryuuji said (in I think Otomedia) in Trial, his solo is like 4 keys up and that he wasn't sure if he was gunna do it at 4 keys up again but I think he did cos I didn't notice a difference and it definitely wasn't as low as the studio recording he did.
I didn't realise until AFTER I watched this that in the NEXT stage, it's gunna be a completely different cast bar Ryuuji. I honestly thought it was gunna be those six and then just 5 new members added! So I am VERY happy I got to see it in person...
Overall: This was amazing! Such an improvement from the Trial including story pace, comedy, extended scenes, new music, flashiey show. I loved it! And we ALL know Kashuu stole the stage <3 and with those ARMS!
