Fandom rant...
Start rant...
Sometimes i get SERIOUSLY slagged off by fanfiction within the TF fandom. Let me say something perfectly clear...
I have no issue with OC's, in fact i have a couple myself that i use to further plotlines within my stories... that having been said however... WRITING A FRAGGING STORY THAT IS SO CHOCK FULL OF STUPID OC'S THAT NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT DOES NOT ENCOURAGE READERS!
If you want to write that story go ahead, it's your story, but TELL people that it's about OC's with the odd canon character thrown in here and there! Nothing slags me off like starting a story where the summary mentions a canon character only to start reading, be confused within the first paragraph and then not finding anything about said character in the first chapter at all.
If i am completely lost in the first chapter, i will not continue. Perhaps you explain everything as you continue, i don't care at that point. You didn't manage to grab me and had me wondering who the slag any of your characters were. It would also have served to really irritate me when your summary did not match your story.
PLEASE JUST WARN ABOUT OC's!
Oh, and another thing... unless done well, i'm not usually a fan of OC/Canon pairings, if you intend to do so, again please WARN us. I know i shouldn't get so worked up but Primus, i've just had this happen THREE TIMES today.
I just want to be WARNED!
Then again since i get stuck reading fics that have a situation with no explanation as to how it happened or whatnot and you're kind of stuck wondering whether having something new to read is worth the possible pain.
