Because my electronics hate me
I had to go to the mall earlier today to buy a new portable CD player, because mine mysteriously broke last night. It was working fine, and I went to listen to some music a few hours later, and the CD wasn't spinning and there were these "click-click-click" noises which kind of freaked me out more than a little bit, and when the CD finally did start spinning it wouldn't start playing, and it wouldn't turn off when I hit STOP twice (which is how you turn that CD player off). At first I thought it was the CD itself, but I tried others and it did the same thing. That particular CD player had been acting wonky lately anyway. So I had to buy a new one ASAP because I can't go more than twenty-four hours without music, and even that's pushing it.
I also bought Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation at Barnes and Noble (I would have bought Take the Cannoli but they didn't have it). I'll read it after I finish the book I'm currently reading.
My mom and I went last night to see The Golden Compass. It was pretty exciting. I liked Serafina instantly and was slightly disappointed she didn't have a bigger role. I have the books but I haven't read them yet.
Oh, yeah, happy new year. Only nine more months of Dubya!
