Pillow Talk of Voicemails

He settled in to bed for the night. He couldn’t exactly patrol the streets with all the hype with Green Arrow and the VRA. He was trying to catch up on the sleep that he had been missing. He reached over and hit a button on a device. Her voice filled the room.

“Hello Oliver. It’s Chloe. I just wanted to call and check in. Call me back when you get this message. Bye.”

“Oliver it’s Chloe. It’s good to see that you are working again. But make sure you sleep before you go out tonight. Those five hours last night really aren’t going to cut it.”

“Hello Mr. Queen. I’m sorry to bother you at the office.” Note the sarcasm. “But I have a situation here that I could use your help with. I’m fine by the way. It’s Chloe.”

“Hi. It’s Chloe I just wanted to say thanks for dinner. It was …” she paused trying to find the right word. “fun. Well have a good night Arrow.”

“Oliver where are you? I’m starving. It doesn’t make for a very good dinner when your companion is late.”

“So hero I was thinking … you me tonight and a little alone time in the dark? Uniform optional.”

“Hey you. I got the flowers. They are beautiful. I’ll be waiting for you when you get back.”

“I just finished brunch with Lois. If you are free tonight, I was thinking maybe I could see the sunset from up there.”

“Hi. It’s me. I’m running a little late but I guess you are still sleeping. Either way I’ll meet you at your place with a movie of my choice. Sorry hero you snooze you lose.

“I got your message. I am offended that you think I would try to get out off our vacation. I need a break just as much as you do. And I planned it. I never renege on a plan.” She huffed. “I’ll be waiting for you here when you are done work.”

“Oliver answer your phone! Where are you? I’m getting worried.”

“Hey. I’m on my way to you place. You wouldn’t believe the day I had. I spent a little too much time with your old flame. I’m around the corner. See you in a bit. Oh and we are going to need to redo Watchtower. Did I mention that? ”

On his darkest days, he listened the last words she said to him.

“I love you.”

With her voice floating through the air confessing her love on a loop, he shut his eyes. This was only one way that he could sleep through the night.
