Prompt: A Surprise Party
Summary: Roland throws his wife a surprise party.

Marisa had been at the local lake with the grandchildren all afternoon, She was plain tuckered out to be honest. She stretched her arms and rubbed the back of her neck. Where on earth did children get all the energy from? Marisa had really planned to come home hours ago. Roland was at home after all. He'd woken up and said he hadn't felt well and had opted to stay home. Marisa had offered to stay with him, but he'd insisted that she go spend time with the family. The grandchildren would be dissapointed if she wasn't there at least for a little while. So she'd comprised. She'd go to the park for just a little bit and then come home to nurse her beloved husband. But every time that she'd tried to make an exit after lunch, one of the kids had dragged her back. "Please?"Jon had begged, "Just watch me hang upside down from that tree?" Or "Please push me on the swing real quick?"
In the end Marisa had just given up on trying to sneak away. But now they were finally home. Good. She could go make some hot soup and make sure Roland had actually stayed in bed this afternoon. He was notorious for sneaking down to the family's personal lake even when he was sick. And he'd always end up making himself worse for it. But it appeared he must have been very ill because no one was outside. She headed to the back of the property toward the Hut...the lone building on the entire campsite and stepped inside. She was surprised when nearly half the town shouted "Surprise!" Above their heads was a beautiful banner which read "Happy Golden Anniversary Rolisa!" And there was Roland standing right in the front with a bunch of daisies dressed in his nicest suit and tie.
"You weren't sick at all!' she pouted. "You..you just wanted to set this whole thing up..." she whirled around to glare at the rest of her family that had now come into the room. It was a tight fit. "And you all..."
"Jumped at the opportunity to assist in pulling off this shindig. Yes.." Alvin confessed "But really mom you and dad deserve it. Now hopefully the kids didn't tire you out too much. Cat and I did tell them to take it easy on you."
Marisa put her hands on her hips. " Alvin, I'm not some old maid. Of course I can enjoy the party!"
She turned her eyes over to Roland, "Please tell me we have fruit smoothies out there!"
Roland grinned slipping his arm around her waist, "Of course we do. Let's go grab you a tall strawberry orange one."
