i love italy. i always have and i think i always will. i started last weekend in venezia (venice) and witnessed the very beginning of carnevale, this crazy version of mardi gras. then we went to firenze (florence), my favorite italian city, and got memberships to an underground jazz club where locals mix with foreigners in a smooth, almost drunken, swirl of trumpets and snare drums. i hope i can go back there sometime this semester. we explored the tuscan hills, sienna, castles, the sunset. napoli was next, that crazy, crazy city where you have to thrown yourself into heavy traffic just to get across the street. i sort of loved the hecticness of it, at least for a few days, but i could never live there. lastly, roma, that beautiful piece of antiquity meeting modernity. we went to the vatican and then to the parque borghese, where we rode around a golf-cart-bike contraption until our legs nearly fell off. it was pretty spectacular.
now i'm back in london, taking a class on the british education system and about to start my internship at 4children, where i'll be planning conferences and such. the month of march will be filled with visits...3 family members and 3 friends...should be crazy. i'm looking forward to it. :)
