Chapter 1 (character introduction) ----
As soon as Kyuhyun was old enough, he moved in with Sungmin. The older of the two shared a rather big apartment with a guy named Heechul who was the diviest diva Kyuhyun had ever met and someone who went by Leeteuk, who Kyuhyun was convinced was an angel without wings. The four of them created a cozy, family-like environment of their own; Leeteuk was the kind, caring yet nagging mother; Heechul was the rebellious older brother (or sister, he could be either); Sungmin was the whiny, energetic little brother and Kyuhyun was… Kyuhyun. The straight A-kid. The nerd.
However, they sometimes got into rather big fights. Only Leeteuk kept outside of the heated discussions and fights, instead trying desperately to stop them. Like when Heechul invited his boyfriend over and Kyuhyun endlessly teased the Chinese man for his fail Korean. That fight ended with food all over the kitchen (even in the ceiling), two broken plates, three glasses in shards on the floor and Sungmin shouting, “That’s it! Kyuhyun and I are moving out!”
Everything stilled and Kyuhyun turned to look at his boyfriend, eyes widened. Leeteuk, Heechul and Heechul’s boyfriend - Hangeng - stared as well.
“What did you say?” Kyuhyun breathed. Sungmin smiled uncertainly.
“We’re moving out. Getting a place of our own. Is that okay with you? ‘Cause I already looked ‘round at some places and I found a rather nice house, but-“ Sungmin stopped talking when Kyuhyun launched himself at him.
“I love you,” Kyuhyun murmured against Sungmin’s neck. “Do you have any idea how long I dreamt about getting my own place with you?”
Sungmin giggled, but then Kyuhyun pulled away slightly and Sungmin saw the damage he’d done to his white - scratch that, previously white shirt. The smile faded from his face and his eyes widened comically quickly as he shoved Kyuhyun off his lap.
“Kyuhyun!” he screeched. “Look what you did!”
It only took a few pouts and fake tears and Kyuhyun promised he’d pay for the dry cleaning and buy him a new shirt. Heechul shook his head as he witnessed the scene, muttering something about how stupidly quickly Kyuhyun gave in. Hangeng effectively silenced him by telling him that he, too, liked it when Hangeng quickly gave in to whatever arguments Heechul used.
“Oh shut it, Chinaman,” Heechul tried to retort, but didn’t say anything else.
~~
Two weeks later, with some economical support from Kyuhyun’s parents, Heechul, Hangeng, Leeteuk and Kyuhyun’s cousin Hyukjae and his boyfriend Donghae all helped the couple to move into their new house. It was more than a bit bigger than what they needed, with two floors, two bathrooms and three bedrooms. It was white and had a pretty garden Sungmin enjoyed caring for (most of the flowers he planted were pink or red, occasionally white or blue on Kyuhyun’s demand).
“What do you need such a big house for?” Heechul huffed as he passed Sungmin, who was directing everyone else from the doorway, carrying a rather small couch Kyuhyun and Sungmin had gotten as a present from Hangeng’s family together with Hangeng himself.
“Well, right now it’s good if we’re gonna have parties or if friends come over and in the future, well, in the future, you see…” And Sungmin went off into one of his rants about how he and Kyuhyun were going to travel to France and get married and they’d adopt some kids and live happily ever after. Kyuhyun huffed as he passed him for the third time to get another box from the moving truck.
“Keep dreaming,” he muttered, quickly apologizing as Sungmin glared at him and cracked his knuckles menacingly. He’d learnt the hard way that Sungmin’s martial art skills were not to be joked around with.
“You’ll see, Cho! One day we’ll be married with two kids and we’ll be the awesomest dads in the world!” Sungmin shouted after him. Kyuhyun decided to keep it to himself that Sungmin would indeed make an awesome dad or he’d never hear the end of it.
~~
Kyuhyun’s eyes slowly fluttered open as he felt lips softly press against them. The first thing that entered his line of vision was something pink. And fluffy. It took a moment for Kyuhyun to realize that it was Sungmin’s pajamas.
“Good morning, baby,” Sungmin’s soft voice breathed in Kyuhyun’s ear and Kyuhyun let out a grunt to acknowledge it. Sungmin giggled slightly.
“Your voice is kind of sexy when you do that,” Sungmin whispered and Kyuhyun grunted again in response. Sungmin whined and inched closer. “Stop it or I might get hard and then you’ll have to take care of it.”
“You say it like it’s something bad,” Kyuhyun muttered, allowing Sungmin to rest his head on his chest as he threaded his fingers through the elder’s hair.
“Mm, well, I had a perfectly romantic day including no sex planned out for today,” Sungmin hummed contently. Kyuhyun chuckled and bent his neck to place a kiss on the top of Sungmin’s hair.
“In my opinion, the day hasn’t started yet,” he argued after glancing at the clock to make sure it wasn’t past eleven. Sungmin sighed deeply, rolling his eyes.
However Kyuhyun always got what he wanted and Sungmin couldn’t really be pointed out as guilty of protesting when Kyuhyun began his assault on the elder’s body. Pretty much the opposite actually, as Kyuhyun got him whining and moaning for a whole other reason.
When Kyuhyun slumped over Sungmin, spent and exhausted, the older was pretty much ready to give the day up and just sleep if Kyuhyun asked him to. He absent-mindedly played with Kyuhyun’s hair and stroked his back as he fought against sleep.
“Can’t we save the romantic day for some other day?” Kyuhyun murmured in Sungmin’s ear, his voice giving away just how sleepy he was. Sungmin sighed, but it wasn’t an annoyed sigh.
“Sure,” he muttered softly. “Just get off me, will you, you’re heavy.”
Sungmin got a bite to his collarbone for that remark, but Kyuhyun was too tired to do much else than comply and snuggle up close to the older.
“Ugh, we’re all sticky,” Kyuhyun muttered. Sungmin giggled softly.
“And whose fault is that?” he teased. Kyuhyun whined, but didn’t say anything as he let sleep take him. Sungmin watched him for a few minutes; even drenched in sweat and obviously exhausted, Kyuhyun’s sleeping face was so peaceful and adorable. He smiled to himself, silently thanking the heavens for giving him Kyuhyun, before he snuggled even closer to the younger and drifted off to sleep.
About two hours later the couple was woken up by badly stifled giggles and whispers. The sounds stopped abruptly as Kyuhyun groaned and stretched, causing Sungmin to roll off him where he’d been half-lying on Kyuhyun and wake up as well.
“What time’s it?” the older asked through a yawn, eyes still closed.
“Almost one o’clock,” a foreign voice said and Sungmin jerked awake, eyes wide open. Kyuhyun half sat up next to him, staring at the two others in the room.
“What are you doing here?!” he exclaimed, quickly drawing the blanket up to cover both himself and Sungmin up to their chins. Hyukjae and Donghae giggled.
“You didn’t answer the phone, so we thought we’d come over and make sure you’re not dead or something,” Hyukjae declared, waving the extra key Kyuhyun had given him around as if to explain how they got into the house.
“Oh. Well, get out,” Kyuhyun ordered. Hyukjae and Donghae snickered again, but did as they were told and exited the room. Kyuhyun groaned and buried his face in his pillow.
“That was awkward,” he muttered, relaxing a little as Sungmin scooted over and attached himself to Kyuhyun, like a baby koala to its mother. Kyuhyun rather liked it, if he was to be honest.
“Hey guys, you want breakfast? Hyuk wants to make pancakes,” Donghae shouted from downstairs. Kyuhyun groaned.
“Whatever,” he shouted back. He had intended on staying in bed while his cousin cooked, but several loud bangs and a string of profanities changed his mind.
“Um… maybe we should go downstairs,” Sungmin muttered, obviously thinking the same way as Kyuhyun.
“Yeah, we probably should,” Kyuhyun was quick to agree as another bang resounded through the house, followed by a loud fuck! He sat up and reached for the jeans he’d discarded on the floor the night before, but it took some time to find his boxers in the mess of blankets and Sungmin (who still didn’t move).
Kitchen was chaos. There were things everywhere, milk on the floor, flour all over Hyukjae and eggs in Donghae’s hair. Kyuhyun stared. He and Sungmin had spent the day before carefully unpacking and putting the kitchen utensils in order, but now it looked like they’d have to do it again.
“What are you even doing?” he asked, and the two turned to him. Hyukjae was about to say something when someone bumped into Kyuhyun from behind and he toppled over, landing in the milk on the floor. Hyukjae settled for bending over with laughter instead, Donghae joining him.
“Oh, sorry!” Sungmin squeaked from where he was lying on Kyuhyun’s back. “I was just, um…”
Kyuhyun sat up, grumbling something about stupid boyfriends and even stupider cousins as he allowed Sungmin to dry him off with the sheet wrapped around him. That’s when he realized.
“Sungmin… Why are you wrapped in a sheet?” he asked and Sungmin paused, opting to instead look up at his boyfriend with a sheepish smile.
“I was… um… too lazy to put some clothes on…?” he said, more like a question than an explanation. Kyuhyun stared blankly at him for a few second before he laughed and pulled Sungmin closer, not caring about the other’s shriek as he, too, came in contact with the cold milk on Kyuhyun’s skin.
“I love you, baby,” Kyuhyun chuckled and sealed it with a quick, chaste kiss. The couple was broken apart by the sound of Hyukjae pretending to throw up.
“Oh, come on,” Kyuhyun groaned as he turned to glare at his cousin. “First, that wasn’t even remotely dirty. Second, you do that with Hae-hyung all the time. Third, now you’ll help us clean up.”
‘Help us clean up’ turned out to be ‘follow Kyuhyun’s directions while Sungmin cooks’, but everyone seemed to be fine with that (more like Kyuhyun ordered Sungmin to karate chop anyone who complained).
“Hey, Kyuhyun,” Sungmin suddenly said while they were eating breakfast, staring out the window with wide eyes, “who’s that?”
“Who?” Kyuhyun asked, frowning. “I can’t see anyone.”
“It was a man, standing by the tree,” Sungmin said with a small sigh. “But he disappeared… Never mind, I probably imagined it.”
Breakfast went on as usual. ‘As usual’, as in Donghae declaring food war half-through, Sungmin’s brother arriving and joining, Kyuhyun’s sister coming not long after that and trying to clean up while the war was still going on, Heechul coming over with his Chinaman and creating even more chaos and Leeteuk stepping in soon after them and managing to stop the war.
Everyone present in the kitchen, including Kyuhyun’s sister Ahra, stared sheepishly at him as he fumed, glaring at them.
“Whose fault is this?” he roared and Donghae tried to hide behind Hyukjae. Needless to say, that didn’t work very well as Leeteuk harshly grabbed his wrist and pulled him out from there. “Did you start this?”
Donghae’s staring at the floor and fiddling with his fingers was enough of an answer. Leeteuk sighed deeply and rolled his eyes.
“What were you even thinking? This isn’t your house, yet you have no qualms whatsoever about making the owners clean it up-“
“Ah, this is the second time,” Kyuhyun butted in. Leeteuk bowed his head in the younger man’s direction, but didn’t look at him.
“They moved in yesterday, Donghae! Do you really think they’d like to spend their first week in their new house cleaning half dried strawberry jam from the ceiling?”
Sungjin, Sungmin’s brother, Heechul and Hangeng all faked a cough to hide a laugh. Leeteuk glared at them.
“Come on then, set to work! Kyuhyun and Sungmin don’t need to and not you either, I saw you cleaning before… What’s your name?” Leeteuk asked as he spoke to Ahra. She smiled timidly at him and Kyuhyun rolled his eyes.
“I’m Cho Ahra, Kyuhyun’s sister. Pleasure to meet you,” she said, making sure to bow properly. Kyuhyun shared a look with his lover and they both rolled their eyes.
“Pleasure’s all mine. I’m Park Jungsu, but you can call me Leeteuk.”
As Leeteuk supervised the others’ work, Kyuhyun and Sungmin skipped went back to their bedroom, Ahra following close behind.
“You’re not allowed in here,” Kyuhyun said as they entered the bedroom. “Shoo, go away!”
He successfully pushed her out and closed the door before she could notice the stains on the sheets - she most definitely wouldn’t be delighted that her adorable little brother wasn’t so innocent anymore. Not that Kyuhyun had ever been innocent, of course.
“Come on, let’s take a shower,” Kyuhyun suggested, shedding his clothes as he walked towards the adjoining bathroom.
“Not together, idiot, then we’ll never get out of there,” Sungmin protested. Kyuhyun scoffed.
“Don’t you trust me? I can be a good boy, too!” Sungmin laughed at Kyuhyun’s words.
“Oh yeah? Prove it to me then,” he challenged. Kyuhyun merely smirked, but Sungmin correctly interpreted it as challenge accepted.
Sungmin was positively surprised when it turned out that Kyuhyun could be a good boy. However, when he reached out to take the shampoo from where it was standing on the sink, he quickly jumped back. Luckily, Kyuhyun was standing right behind him to catch him.
“What’s wrong?” he asked as he made sure Sungmin was steady on his feet before he let go of him.
“The mirror,” Sungmin said, obviously scared. “S-Someone had wr-written something on it.”
Kyuhyun frowned, confused. Sungmin pulled the shower curtain to the side to show him, but as he did so, his mouth fell open. There was nothing on the mirror.
“I must’ve imagined things, then…” he mumbled to himself. Kyuhyun frowned, outright worried by now. He grabbed Sungmin’s shoulders and turned the other to him, looking deep into his eyes.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked as he moved his hand up to feel Sungmin’s forehead. “You’re not getting a fever? Not feeling funny?”
“No, Kyuhyun, I’m perfectly fine,” Sungmin muttered, trying to turn away from the younger’s touch but to no avail.
“Not taking any drugs?” Sungmin’s eyes widened and he froze, staring at his boyfriend in disbelief.
“What kind of person do you think I am?!” he exclaimed, breaking free from Kyuhyun’s grip. “Of course I’m not taking any drugs.”
“I don’t think you’re that kind of person, baby. I’m just making sure you’re fine. Did you watch any scary movies lately? Had any nightmares? Sure anyone else didn’t drug you?”
Sungmin rolled his eyes as Kyuhyun’s overprotectiveness, even if it made his heart warm.
“Yes, Kyuhyun, I’m absolutely sure there are no drugs in my system. You know I don’t watch scary movies by myself and I’d surely wake you up if I had a nightmare. Now look, you made me all annoyed, so now you have to kiss it away,” he said, puckering his lips and turning his head up towards Kyuhyun’s. Kyuhyun chuckled, but complied with his request nonetheless, swooping down to give Sungmin a quick, chaste kiss. Sungmin whined.
“That’s not what I had in mind!” he protested as he stood on his toes, trying to reach Kyuhyun’s lips again. Kyuhyun chuckled and turned away.
“I promised I’d be a good boy, didn’t I? Then I only think it’s fair that you’ll be good, too.”
Sungmin whined, even as he laughed, but didn’t try to steal any more kisses. He suspected that Kyuhyun would crave his reward for being good pretty much as soon as everyone else had left the house.
When they went back downstairs, the kitchen was mostly clean and the only ones still cleaning were Donghae and Hyukjae, grumbling under their breath as they did so. Kyuhyun and Sungmin ignored them as they took a seat at the table, Sungmin in Kyuhyun’s lap, and grabbed a cup each of the coffee Leeteuk had made.
“Where’s everyone else?” Kyuhyun asked, grabbing Sungmin’s waist more firmly and pulling him further onto his lap. Leeteuk shrugged.
“Ahra-sshi and Sungjin-sshi left, Heechul blabbered something about taking Geng on a date… Hyukjae said he and Hae will leave as soon as they’re finished too, apparently Donghae really, really wants to see Finding Nemo…” he muttered, obviously tired.
“Again,” Kyuhyun said, chuckling under his breath.
“Again,” Leeteuk, Donghae, Hyukjae and Sungmin chorused. They looked each other for a few minutes before they burst out laughing simultaneously.
“So what’re you gonna do?” Sungmin asked Leeteuk once they calmed down. The older shrugged again.
“Maybe I’ll go over to Sora’s for a while. At least her place is calm…”
“What, you mean we’re too crazy for you?” Kyuhyun asked, pretending to be offended. Leeteuk snorted.
“Yeah,” he said as he stood up, placing his almost-empty coffee cup in the sink. “See you guys later.”
The house became eerily quiet once he left, until Hyukjae’s barely-stifled giggles and Donghae’s all too loud hushing reached Kyuhyun’s and Sungmin’s ears. They found the other couple under the sink, engaged in a tickling fight. Kyuhyun stared.
“How the hell do you even fit in there?” he asked, and the other three doubled over while laughing.
“Maybe we should try it sometime Kyu, it might be useful,” Sungmin teased and the younger rolled his eyes.
“I don’t feel like crawling in under the sink, not now, not ever. Now get out of here, you two,” he said, waving at Hyukjae and Donghae to leave the house. Donghae laughed as he obeyed Kyuhyun’s command, pulling a still-giggling Hyukjae after him. Kyuhyun sighed of relief and leaned against Sungmin when the door finally shut after them.
“Oh my God, what are we gonna do with those two…” he groaned. Sungmin giggled and petted his hair as it was, for once, within his reach.
“Aw Kyuhyun, don’t worry. We’ll be just fine.” He paused. “But maybe we should buy some morphine or something, just in case.”
Kyuhyun laughed tiredly and tilted his head to kiss Sungmin’s cheek.
“I think we should,” he muttered as he straightened up. “What do you say about renting some movies, ordering in Chinese and spending the rest of the day being lazy?”
Sungmin grinned and leaned up to peck Kyuhyun’s lips quickly.
“Sounds like a plan.”
