Sharon and Tim went to the hospital where the babies surgery will be done so they could do a series of tests and ultrasounds. Everything seems to be okay. Sharon is dilated 1 1/2 to 2 cm and is 25% effaced. For the uninitiated, that means her uterus has thinned by 25% of what it needs to be for delivery. She'll go in tomorrow morning and be put on a petossin drip to induce labor. If all goes well, she should deliver by tomorrow afternoon or early evening. The surgeon assured them that Ashton will be fine and plans the surgery within 24 hours of his birth. That's a big load off of their minds, and mine. He outlined the entire procedure for them and was confident that there will be no "surprises." Based on the measurements, Ashton is between 8 & 9 pounds. He'll probably need to be in an oxygen tent prior to surgery just get his blood gases up to speed. The important part is that Sharon and Tim will get hang out with him for a while before his surgery.
I want to thank everyone who expressed concern and offered positive thoughts and prayers. You are the best people in the world. We love you!
