The last post might seem oblivious, but I have been paying rapt attention to the Gulf Coast situation, however, I get all my info almost exclusively through NPR and Free Speech Radio News on MITs station. It's strange to be moving or otherwise completely occupied during such a major event and then to also be without cable TV news and constant Internet updates.
I am starting to wonder what it will take for the people of the US to begin seriously questioning the effectiveness of our current government and it's goals. After all, it's hard to comprehend how the fed and the local state governments in the area couldn't predict this storm's likely outcome. I think the whole situation reeks of what I perceive within the current federal government as an unhealthy culture of disregard for scientific studies and reports that reach conclusions counter to the professed political and moral goals of this government.
