An awesome trip to Gainesville, etc.

I can't bring myself to do homework, so I thought I'd make a quick update. Yesterday I took my first day trip to the great city of Gainesville to show Steve around before he ventures off to the great unknown areas of Texas, or something. It was quite fun. We left around 11:00 and met my mom for lunch at this very small Inn Between sandwich shop that I have been craving lately. It lived up to all my expectations. Then I took him to Dari Spot, which is about five minutes away from my house (or he took me, since he was driving?). They have good, homemade milkshakes with the fruit right there in them. I had a blueberry one, which was excellent.

Then I showed him the sprawling Southern mansion that is my home, or something. We petted Daisy, but could not find Peaches. Eventually I called my grandmother and found out she was there. So we took the 1/4 mile journey to see my grandparents and Peaches.

We played a couple rousing Mad Magazine games, and we both won a game. Then we went to my small church. I played the organ for him, we played the piano a little, and then we talked into this Karaoke microphone we found for about an hour, interviewing each other and such. Although my mom's reaction to my telling her this was, "Are you two or twenty-two?", I think we both had a perfectly lovely time. Everyone should be open to acting really young.

We ate dinner at my brother's third pizza shop he just opened in Cleveland. Despite its location, its new status means it is the nicest of the three, really more focused on dining in, and it was nice. (Plus we ate for free, and I got the insider's tour.)

Unbelievably, our last Gainesville adventure was watching a Beauty and the Beast play. I was surprised to go to Gainesville and end up seeing a play, since there are less of them there, but we just saw it advertised for being at "Gainesville High Warehouse," and we looked it up and found that that was part of the high school (though not produced by them). I thought it was actually really good, and ironic because I saw the movie the night before with Victoria. I graduated from high school with one of the "silly girls" in the play, so that was interesting.

We came back after that, and got back around 11:00, twelve hours after we left. Victoria was asleep, so I went to the apartment Steve is staying at with him and watched Dreamer. First I followed him into the Blockbuster parking lot, and because we hadn't talked about stopping there, I thought I might have been following the wrong car and started to drive out before I saw him. It was sad. But it was a good movie, and I made it home safely even though I was driving at 3:00 a.m. and a little tired.

Today I talked to Jeff on the phone for 4 1/2 hours, put a picture in a frame, finished putting stuff on my walls, and washed my jeans. I am still in my pajamas. My church group went to Six Flags, but I didn't feel like paying a bunch of money to stand in long lines in the unbelievable heat and get a really bad headache. So overall, a very productive day. Maybe I really should do some homework...
