Things that have been filling me with inexplicable joy:

1. PETRONIUS. I am so sorry, but Petronius >>>>>> everyone else ever. HE WAS NERO'S ARBITER ELEGANTIARUM. He dispassionately wrote a satyrical satirical sat-rical novel about anuses and cocks and threesomes and orgies and on top of all that he also was really into fictional characters being cursed into impotence by vengeful gods! This is why I learnt Latin: so that I could read brilliantly written WORKS OF ART

1b. ANUS RECOCTA VINO, TREMENTIBUS LABELLIS is clearly a vicious misrepresentation of what Petronius was really trying to say. HELLO ALCOHOL ENEMAS you make a lot more sense than drunk old ladies, or at least this is what I am convinced of, ANUS RECOCTUS VINO, TREMENTIBUS LABELLIS forever*

and

2. Spaghetti with tuna and tomatoes. This is actually something of an improbable experiment gone well-- there was half a beans&tuna can in the fridge, half a bottle of tomato sauce on the kitchen table, and spaghetti in the pantry-- we mixed these things together and something delicious came out of this daring bout of experimentation. One meal down, three more to go before our next trip to the supermarket. (It is somewhat really difficult to conjure decent cooked food when there is literally nothing left to cook.)

*I don't have any proof backing this up, this is mostly... my imagination running wild... asjjdkksld; I AM SO SORRY PETRONIUS SCHOLARS

classics?
