Tuesday was a red letter day for me, two red letters actually - they stand for Hills Hoist, finally installed. This is the 'Heritage' model, in other words the original design. I can't use it till Saturday though, as the cement needs to set.
This what I have been managing with for more than 3 years. It only holds one wash load, and is lost in shade before midday.
As it happened Nick finally came round on Tuesday afternoon and took his stuff away, so there is some space now on the front porch, and in the shed. I think it is going to be some time till he forgives me, but it is a relief not to have him dropping in all the time, and I'm starting to realise what a negative effect he had on me, he was always offering to do things but never getting round to it. When we first moved in he said he would hang curtains for me, so I went out and bought some which I hung myself, but the others for the bedroom are still in the wrapper as I was waiting for him to put up the curtain rail. He also brought round a 2nd hand clothes line that a friend was going to send to the tip. When the cement paths were being laid the contractors offered to install the line, which is still standing against the wall. Nick said he would do it himself, and never did, so now it will have to go to the tip from here.
