What's Wrong With This Picture?

What's wrong with this picture?

I'll tell you what... The newest, biggest and bestest hospital in the West -- the Intermountain Medical Center (IMC) -- has just been built on the site of what used to be a giant factory... it's positioned right in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley, off State Street. State Street begins at the steps of the State Capital Building, and flows south until it merges with I-15. (I-15 was built on top of it, and heads down to Vegas and Los Angeles) Main Street is one street over, to the West.

And, the IMC is positioned right behind the "Southern EXposure Showclub". Let me say that again: it's positioned right behind a strip club.

There have been jokes by some people that the IMC's nurses might be able to moonlight... but humor aside, and whatever other debates this might spark in your head about the dark and corruptive nature of pornography and what have you ...or perhaps because of that...

You just KNOW that there's gonna be a showdown. Someone is going to have to move, or close up shop. And it ain't gonna be the IMC.

Somehow, I just found that humorous. ;-)

The inclusion of both big, respectable hospital, and goodly-sized strip-joint, in one of the most important pieces of real estate in the state of Utah!

social commentary, healthcare, photos, humor
