Surprise Visits
I was on the receiving end of two surprise visits tonight.
First The Chief stopped by, or...more like he was waiting in my apartment for me. Nearly gave me a heart attack when I turned on the lights. (Don't think I'm careless, I keep my kitchen light on, but when The Shadow doesn't want to be seen...there's no getting around it.) We had a brief, but interesting chat about what information he wanted from my father. He gave me the go-ahead to work for the Old Tiger if he has something for me to do, and I was glad to hear that. I'd just returned from the Nexus and was hoping I could catch him before he left. He told me that I'd have a watch on my building every once in a while, so I should be mindful of my absences.
Not long after he left, I got to meet Vic Marquette himself. He's almost a legend in Washington. He's not an agent, but he's held in high-enough confidence with the Chief to get a reputation. He seemed pretty interested to meet me, and was interested in some of the events that took place back when the Bureau was after me. It was a pretty short visit too, but kept me busy. I made him some coffee, and then he headed out.
I'm thinking while I have the chance I should take up the suggestion from the Old Tiger and get myself something red. I haven't had much luck in that world, and I overheard about a jewelry shop that opened recently from one of the tenants down the hall.
