Me too. The discussion, if i recall correctly, focused on the speaker's relation to the subject. Who is speaking? Why is this image significant? Some of my students thought that this must be a farmer speaking, which is why "so much depends" upon it -- it represents the speaker's livelihood. That's not my personal opinion; I feel the speaker is a casual observer and some of the class agreed with me on this. However, I let both groups pursue their lines of thought, exchanging perspectives and challenging one another. It was a really nice moment to be an instructor....I had a number of those, but in the end, my personality isn't suited to be a prison-guard, which is how it felt most of the time, unfortunately :/
