“Once upon a time, between the battle of good and bad, angels and demons, God and Satan, there exist a forbidden love between two immortal beings. It’s the demon’s greatest temptation and the angel’s greatest sin. Even though they knew that the whole world is against their love, they were happy just holding each other’s hands. They decided to marry and settle down to the earth. One day, a human knocked on their door and asked for food. The angel and demon treated him nicely and in return the human told them a secret. When the devil was alone, the human talked to him. He said that if the devil would have a change of heart and visit the heaven, God would turn him into an angel and both of them could live a peaceful life. The devil did what the human said,” Manabu softly caressed Chizuru’s hair who was lying beside him.
“So they are together now, Mana-yan?” Chizuru looked at him.
“No. He died,”
“Eh, why? What happened to the angel?”
“Both of them died. The human told the secret about the change of heart to the angel too. In the end, the angel burned into the fires of hell and the devil melted into the lights of heaven.”
“Was the human lying back then, Mana-yan?”
“No, he isn’t. When the two of them were in opposite worlds, God and Satan told them that to be able to change completely, they must abandon everything. They agreed and the goodness and evilness started to fly out from their hearts and their wings started to turn from black-to-white and white-to-black, until a single feather left as it is. It was because when their love from each other started to fly out away from their heart, both of them embraced it tightly. They didn’t let go even though their bodies started to burn and turn into ash until only their hearts remain.”
“Hmmm… what a weird dream you had Mana-yan,” Chizuru hugged Manabu tightly.
Manabu smiled, “Yeah. I didn’t even notice that it was already four years. Does it make you sad?”
“Hmmm… no,” Manabu was surprise with Chizuru’s reply. “It’s because they did their best to protect their feelings. In the end, even though their smiles turned into ash, they were happy, right? I think that’s enough. But… I’m sad because Daddy and Uruha-chan weren’t able protect their feelings.”
“Oi, are you really a three-year-old kid?”
“Of course,” Chizuru pouted. “I’m worried. Is Uruha-chan going to sleep like you did? Is he going to dream about the angel and the demon?”

At the emergency room, doctors started to do something about the broken limbs and extreme bleeding especially on Uruha’s head. The other doctors and nurses didn’t allow Byou to handle the situation. He’s on a mess right now but they let him look and sit at the corner. That’s the most painful for him. He had saved many lives and even cured Manabu but the one he really loves the most, the most important for him, why he isn’t allowed to take care of him? He snapped and ran outside. He pushed Aoi to the wall through his neck.
“What the hell happened?!” Byou said with full rage.
Aoi gave back his dreadful eyes, “I won’t forgive him. I definitely can’t forgive him! I’ll definitely kill Ruki!”
“Ruki… he… where is he?”
“Good, then both of you are going to jail and Uruha’s going to be left alone,” Iv said. He was walking in with Shin. “What an awesome idea it is, right Shin?”
“I met Reita a while ago. He said that Ruki’s detained at the mental institution for a minimum of three years. Well, it depends on the progress. Then base on the damages, he might be sentenced for a minimum of twenty-five years or the worst is life sentence…”
The two silenced.
“Then… what about Uruha?” Iv looked at them.
“He’s…” the doctor went out when Byou was supposed to answer the question.
“Any family member here?” the doctor asked.
“I am!” Byou and Iv said, “But… he’s the real brother.” Byou backed out a little.
“The damages are here, here, and here…” the doctor pointed to Iv’s right leg, left arm and on his head. “The major injury was on the head and based on his records, he already had the same injury before. This might lead to a serious problem. There will be complications that might lead to brain disorder, comatose, or the worst… death. The next forty-two hours are the most critical,” he left.
“This… this is the same as six months ago…” Iv turned back with teary eyes to Shin.
“Byou, he’ll wake up right? Wake him up Byou, just like what you did to Manabu!” Aoi shook Byou fiercely.
“It’s just impossible!” Byou pushed Aoi. “It’s impossible! His case is different. He damaged his head twice at a short amount of time… In the end he might… I’m useless!”
“Have a grip of yourself!” Shin yelled. “If all of you would snap, who will take care of him? Believe on him, okay?”
Never once I imagined that I’ll be able to love someone with all my heart. It’s all because of him. His smiles, his warmth, his words, and his cries, they melt me into tiny crumbles of wax just like a burning candle slowly extinguishing fire. He’s my world and my light. No matter how much I extend my hand, if God would take him away, he’ll be on the place that I couldn’t reach. He won’t hear my voice. He won’t feel my touch. I will lose every connection I have with him. Please! Please give me back my time! God, please don’t let our hands separate.
The day after, Aoi headed to the mental institution to see Ruki. He saw Reno and Ryoga outside the room. Reita keeps trying to talk to Ruki who’s just staring outside. Aoi sighed and left. It is all hard for them. No one is experiencing a greater pain. They had a little talk figuring how they should move on now. They managed to plan for the future like who’s going to handle Ruki’s businesses, the finances, and the case. If the worst possible scenario comes to Uruha, Ruki might have a life sentence.
The sun set and Reita’s the only one left with Ruki. Not a single word escaped from the other’s mouth. Reita put the dinner he prepared on Ruki’s desk and sat at the bed with him. He leaned Ruki on his shoulders and gently caressed the other’s hair. He sweetly planted a kiss on Ruki’s forehead and was about to feed him when he suddenly heard words being whispered on his ears. It was then he froze and absorbed every word that escapes the other’s lips.
“I… truly love Uruha… so much…”
“I’m sorry. It’s clear to me now. You love him so much, right?”
“Yes,” Ruki held Reita’s hands. “I will protect you… why… why did Reita carve those words on that steel figurine? Is that mean you won’t leave me?”
Reita’s tears began falling down like sand inside an hourglass. It’s slowly draining the little strength left inside him, “Yes, I’ll never leave Ruki alone.”
“Is it a promise? Tell me you won’t leave me alone.”
“Yes, it’s a promise.”
Ruki smiled and lay on Reita’s lap, “That’s a relief. I’m sorry Reita… I’m sleepy. I’m very sleepy,” an empty bottle rolled out. “I’m… sleeping. Please don’t leave me. Reita… just… stay… here… beside… me.”
It was then his heart stopped beating. Reita looked at the empty bottle that rolled unto the bed and broken as it fell into the ground. Reita was left frozen as the clock on the wall keep ticking. His tears just flooded out as he held the man tightly, calling his name repeatedly.
“Here… I’m here… beside you…” Reita took the knife on Ruki’s desk. “Ruki… forever… let’s be together…” Reita cut himself, spreading his blood to Ruki’s body. “It’s a promise, right?”
“You’ll never be alone from now on.”

What I realized only after I hurt you was that I was looking for the number of faults in you when we should have looked at each other.
“Who are you?” Uruha slowly opened his eyes and caressed the man who had just waked up because of his touch. Both of their eyes connected. “It’s a lie. I remember Aoi! No need to make such a face!”
“Uruha…” Aoi couldn’t believe and quickly stood up to call the doctors. “Wait here, I’ll call the doctors.”
Our days were buried in small lies in order to avoid these doubts. Our hearts must know the meaning of losing each other. This second winter is standing still.
“No, please stay here, with me,” Uruha held his hands.
Aoi sat again, “Why… does something hurt?” a tear unexpectedly escaped from his eyes. “I’m sorry… I… I’m just happy.”
You are lost because you cannot see tomorrow. Raising your voice you were crying, without being able to find any words I just caught your tears.
“I… I had so many things I wanted to do with Aoi. Even we didn’t get along, we used to so many fun things when we’re younger like competing for grades, playing guitar, drama, quarrelling, and… holding hands. I want to do it again.”

Wrapped in loneliness the days soaked both of us. We were repeatedly looking for understanding. I can feel it deeply once again.

“I want to go to sea with you again,” Uruha tried to stand but his weak body wouldn’t allow him, “I… please… with Aoi…”

“Why are you being so formal?” Aoi laughed and put him on a wheel chair.

Aoi’s smell sucks. I wonder how many days had passed since he took a bath. He was carrying me on his back because we thought that the wheel chair might sink on the sand. His black hair brushes on my face as the wind blew against us. He might not smell like roses and violets but it’s fine. I want to be enveloped with Aoi’s scent. He put me down and I was surprise that we’re already beside the seawater. He sat down next to me who was trying to conceal my laughter for the moment. It’s just too funny that I didn’t notice anything because all I did was to think and look at him.
“Why are you smiling?”
Uruha leaned on Aoi’s shoulder, “Because we’re finally together…”
Aoi wasn’t able to reply, his eyes wandered unto the scenery though he was blinded just by those words, he could only see Uruha right now, “It’s getting cold, let’s go back.” He was supposed to stand up when Uruha pulled him down, back to where he sat.
“Sorry Aoi but let’s just stay like this for a while,” Uruha smiled and looked down and said…
“I’m dying anyway.”
I don't need "I love you" anymore if only you'd stay forever by my side. I want to be broken by you who exhausted your voice by crying.
“What’s with that? Is that a joke? Ha… Ha…” Aoi laughed.
“My… my clock is ticking… I’m sorry Aoi. Even at the last time, I wasn’t able to protect that special thing. I really want to be with you but… it seems like I don’t have enough time anymore. That’s why… just a little bit longer, stay with me, please…”
All the words from the beginning to the end were said to you so that you won't let go of these arms. The same dream that stood by our side washed us both away.

“I love you so much. Please be happy from now on,” Uruha closed his eyes. His tears fell down like the shooting stars that started to rain above them.
Aoi cried with them.
I leave this "goodbye" right here and move forward. I won't lose you once again.
“You’re stupid… very stupid,” Aoi couldn’t stop. He just wanted to hug him. “Look at you, you’re even smiling…”
So that we can assure ourselves of our love, we both had to see sorrow. Even if we both end up vanishing tomorrow, it's okay to not cry anymore.
I wonder where our feelings go when we die. “Once again, I’m hearing Aoi’s heart,” Uruha pushed his ears closer to Aoi’s chest. “When I was asleep, I saw an angel and a devil standing next to me. I wonder who’s going to take me.”

Aoi cried with them.

“You’re stupid… very stupid,” Aoi couldn’t stop. He just wanted to hug him. “Look at you, you’re even smiling…”
